The balls and beads can be pinned on to the candle with or dinary pins. If you have brass ash trays or brass copper dishes, these make handsome bases for the candles. Sprigs of holly can be pinned to your candles as well as ribbons and bows. Decorated candles are most always rather expensive to buy, there’s a con siderable saving in trimming your own. What better time to do some homework wdth your calorie book? Ignorance is not bliss when it comes to calorie count ing. Don’t starve yourself on party days or you’ll lose your head at the sight of the first chip and dip tray. Breakfast on a grapefruit, a poached egg and coffee or tea. For lunch try a salad with tomato juice for dressing and a glass of skim milk. Drink a glass of milk while you’re getting ready for the party. It will take the edge off your appetite. You’re in big trouble if you arrive at the party hungry. Try this little experiment for a day - keep a piece of paper and a pencil with you all day and write down everything you eat. If you taste the spaghetti - add it to your list. If you lick the icing spoon, mark it down. You will discover that a bite of this and a bite of that adds up to a lot of calories. If you’re an incorrigible nib- bler, keep raw vegetables ready for snacks. Low calorie soda pop and diet gelatin desserts are good items to have on hand. A diet will go a long way in changing your eating habits!
