C. accidents cost $10,900,000 South Carolinians suffered an estimated economic loss of $10,- 900,000 in July as a result of traffic accidents, injuries and deaths, according to the State Highway Department. The average loss per day came to $350,000 or $11,600 for every hour during the month. E & H bond sales $24,000 for month Combined sales of Series E and Series H Savings Bonds for August in Newberry County to talled $24,178 reports Joe M. Roberts County Savings Bonds Chairman. In the state, August sales of E and H Bonds totalled $3,361,- 320, an increase of 14 percent over August 1970 sales, reports Robert G. Clawson, State Chair man of the U.S. Savings Bonds Committee. In the nation, August E and H sales were $516 million, a 33 percent increase over Au gust of last year, and set a record for any August since 1952, the year the H Bond was introduced, further reports Mr. Clawson. M. Traylor, 1121 Marion St., re pairs. Davis completes basic training FT. POLK, La. — Army Pri vate Robert W. Davis, 21, son of Mr. and Mrs. Pearce C. Davis, Route 2, Newberry, re cently completed eight weeks of oasic training at the U. S. Army Training Center, Infan try, Ft. Polk, La. He received instruction in drill and ceremonies, weapons, map reading, combat tactics, military courtesy, military jus tice, first aid, and army his tory and traditions. Mrs. M. L. Wicker died Tuesday Mrs. Minnie Lee Livingston Wicker, 74, of Rt. 2, Newberry, widow of Otis Clyde Wicker, died Tuesday. A native of Newberry County, daughter of the late Malcolm and Collie Richardson Living ston, she was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. Surviving are two sons, Otis Duane and O. Eugene Wicker of Newberry; a daughter, Mrs. Mary Nell Fancher of Colum bus, Miss., a brother, Willie Hugh Livingston of Pomaria; a sister, Mrs. Inez Eargle of Newberry; and nine grandchil dren.
