Kendall revamps
research plans
Boston — The Kendall Com
pany has reorganized its re
search and development activi
ties and has appointed Dr. Jules
Blake as vice president-re
search, Kendall’s president, Dr.
Willard M. Bright, announced
today. Dr. Blake succeeds Ho
race A. Secrist who retired re
cently as director of research.
Kendall manufactures hospital
products and home health care
items.
Dr. Blake was previously di
rector of the research and de
velopment division of the Mallin-
ckrodt Chemical Company in

sible for research on drug, food
and cosmetic chemicals as well
as process research.
Previously, K e n d a 1 l’s re
search has been organized with
several Kendall operating divi
sions maintaining their own la
boratories, supported on mat
ters of exploratory research by

bridge, Massachusetts.
Dr. Bright announced that,
effective upon Dr. Blake’s ap
pointment, all Kendall labora
tories will be directly respon
sible to Dr. Blake. “It is my
belief,” Dr. Bright said, “that
future opportunities for Kendall
can be better served with the
unified direction of a centraliz
ed research and development
responsibility.”
Before his service with Mal-
linckrodt, Dr. Blake was with
the DuPont Company for 12
years at its Deleware, Michi
gan and Philadelphia, Pennsyl
