Kendall revamps research plans Boston — The Kendall Com pany has reorganized its re search and development activi ties and has appointed Dr. Jules Blake as vice president-re search, Kendall’s president, Dr. Willard M. Bright, announced today. Dr. Blake succeeds Ho race A. Secrist who retired re cently as director of research. Kendall manufactures hospital products and home health care items. Dr. Blake was previously di rector of the research and de velopment division of the Mallin- ckrodt Chemical Company in St. Louis where he was respon sible for research on drug, food and cosmetic chemicals as well as process research. Previously, K e n d a 1 l’s re search has been organized with several Kendall operating divi sions maintaining their own la boratories, supported on mat ters of exploratory research by Kendall’s laboratory in Cam bridge, Massachusetts. Dr. Bright announced that, effective upon Dr. Blake’s ap pointment, all Kendall labora tories will be directly respon sible to Dr. Blake. “It is my belief,” Dr. Bright said, “that future opportunities for Kendall can be better served with the unified direction of a centraliz ed research and development responsibility.” Before his service with Mal- linckrodt, Dr. Blake was with the DuPont Company for 12 years at its Deleware, Michi gan and Philadelphia, Pennsyl vania laboratories. Dr. Blake was educated at the University of Pennsylva nia; he received a B.S. in ,1949 an M.S. in 1951 and his Ph.D. in 1954. Dr. Blake and his family will move from St. Louis to Boston later this year. Cadet Waits on distinguished list Cadet Clifford Holloway Waits Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Clif ford H. Waits, Sr., 2306 Henry Ave., Newberry, has been nam ed to the Commandment’s Dis tinguished Service List at the military college for the 1970- 71 academic year. Only those cadets “adjudged to have made the most positive contributions to their company and to the Corps of Cadets” are selected to have their names appear on the Commandant’s List. Each person offering to vote must have resided in the State of South Carolina for one year, in Newberry County for six months, and in the polling precinct in which the elector offers to vote for three months all prior to JUNE 15, 1971; PROVIDED, that ministers in charge of an organized church and teachers of public schools and the spouse of any such per son shall be entitled to vote after six months’ residence in South Carolina, if otherwise qualified. 2. Each person offering to vote must be twenty-one years of age and have been duly re gistered on the County Books of Registration for Newberry County in the Precinct at which he offers to vote, on or before May 15, 1971, for the current decennial (10-year) period, and must present his registration certificate.
