Mr. and Mrs. Elbert Maxcy Stone of 1605 Harrington
Street announce the engagement of their daughter,
Karen Theresa, to David Lee Robertson, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Frank Hocker Robertson of 3002 West Cornwallis
Drive, Greensboro, North Carolina.
The bride-elect will receive an A.B. degree in Early
Childhood Education from Lenoir Rhyne College in May.
She serves as President of her sorority, Delta-Zelta.
The bride-groom elect will receive an A.B. degree in
Sociology from Lenoir Rhyne, where he is President of
Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity. He plans to enter law
school in the fall.
A July 31 wedding is planned in the Lutheran Church
of the Redeemer.

16, in the A.G.D. Wiles Chapel
on the Newberry College cam
pus.
The free concert is one of
the programs in this year’s Ar
tists and Lecturers Series at
the College.

berry College have been elected
officers of the Greek organiza

League plans
be discussed
The Executive Committee of
the Newberry College Women’s
League will conduct its annual
meeting at 10 a.m. Saturday,
March 6, in the Conference
Room of the College’s Science
and Mathematics Building.
The women plan to discuss
the League’s program for the
1971-72 school year. The Lea
gue, founded in 1942, has been
responsible for several needed
projects which were not and
could not be provided for in
the College’s annual budget.
The current project is the re
decoration and remodeling of
the student dining room in
Kaufmann Hall.
Mrs. Gerald Pay singer of
Newberry is the president of
the Women’s League and chair
man of the Executive Commit
tee.

sales $28,650
Joe M. Roberts, County Sav
ings Bonds Chairman today re
ports that Newberry County’s
January sales of Series E and
Series H Bonds totaled $28,650.
In South Carolina, January
Savings Bonds sales exceeded
those for December by 672,465
and, except for 1969, were the
highest January sales since
1947, reports Robert G. Claw
son, State Savings Bonds Chair
man.
Pvt. tominack
completes basic
Private Kenneth H. Lominack,
18, son of Mr. and Mrs. Eve
rett H. Lominack, Route 1,
recently completed eight weeks
of basic training at the U.S.
Army Training Center, Infan
try, Ft. Lewis, Wash.
He received instruction in
drill and ceremonies, weapons,
map reading, combat tactics,
military courtesy, military jus
tice, first aid, and army his
tory and traditions.
Pvt. Lominack is a 1970 gra
duate of Newberry High School.
Mr. and Mrs. Wilton O. Chasteen of Chappells announce
the engagement of their daughter, Jane Day, and Thomas
Caswell Moose, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry E. Moose, Sr.
of Newberry. The bride-elect and her fiance graduated
from Newberry High School in 1968 and both are stu
dents at Clemson University. The wedding is planned for
Saturday, May 15, at 4 p.m. in Chappells Baptist Church.
No formal invitations will be sent but relatives and
friends are invited to attend.
