Winn on staff Bowers & Floyd James Hartnette Winn, a na tive of Due West, has joined the staff of Bowers and Floyd Insurance Agency effective De cember 21. Mr. Winn is join ing the firm after completion of military service and is pre sently a member of the Nation al Guard. Mr. Winn graduated from An derson Junior College and New berry College with a major in Business Administration. His so cial fraternity is Tau Kappa Epsilon. Besides Business Ad ministration he has taken se veral courses in property and casualty insurance over the past several years. These in clude courses at Greenville TEC, Richland TEC. and a term seminar at the Univer sity of South Carolina. His li cense to solicit insurance by the South Carolina Insurance Department was issued in June, 1970. There will be no city or rural delivery services. Collection service will be limit ed to the courtesy box next to the post office on Jenkins St. Special Delivery service will be provided on a holiday schedule. Lockbox service and the distri bution of outgoing and incom ing preferential mail will be provided. Five and six cent stamps are available from the stamp machine in the lobby of the post office. J. A. Cumalander rites at church James Arthur Cumalander, 89, of Little Mountain, died Dec. 17 at the Lowman Home in White Rock after a linger ing illness. Mr. Cumalander was born in Little Mountain, the son of the late John and Ellen Addy Cuma lander. He was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church and a retired employee of Whit ten Village. Surviving is one brother, Er nest Cumalander of Little Moun tain; one grandson. James Mad dox of Fairfax, Va.; and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services were con ducted at 3 p.m. Saturday at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church by Rev. Charles Dawkins and Rev. Garth Hill. Burial was in the church cemetery. City native dies in N. C. Colie E. Bouknight, 69, of Kannapolis, N. C., died Thurs day in a Charlotte hospital. Mr. Bouknight was bom in Newberry, a son of the late Willie and Bernice Bouknight. He was a retired textile em ploye. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Mary Hyde Bouknight; two daughters, Mrs. Raymond Pri- vette of Charlotte and Mrs. Charles Swanner of Kannapo lis; five sisters, Mrs. Charlie Hendrix, Mrs. J. B. Connelly and Mrs. Eula Alewine of New berry and Mrs. Oscar Hartsell of Laurens; and three bro thers, Tommy and Floyd Bouk night of Newberry and Irby Bouknight of Kannapolis. Funeral services were held Saturday at 2 p.m. in Kanna polis. Mrs. Parrott service held Mrs. Della H. Parrott, 97, widow of the late George 0. Parrott, died Dec. 23 at the Columbia Hospital. She had been in declining health for se veral years. Mrs. Parrott made her home in the old Cannon’s Creek sec tion of Newberry County for a number of years prior to moving to. Route 1 Newberry, and was a member of Cannon’s Creek A.R.P. Church. Surviving are one son, Ro bert Maxcy Parrott, Newberry; one daughter, Mrs. Gevena P. Horton, Barnwell; five grand children; and seven great grandchildren Funeral services were held Thursday at 2 p.m.. from Can Ffcwberry Sun, Newberry, S. Joseph Walter Cousins, 21, of Rt. 1, Gray Court, died Monday in Colorado. A son of J. W. and Nelle Ivey Cousins of Rt. 1, Gray Court, he entered the Air Force in 1969. He served one year in Vietnam and was stationed at Fortuna, N.D. Surviving also are a brother, Robert Dennis Cousins of the home; a sister, Miss Cynthia Cousins of Laurens; and his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. L. K. Cousins of Newberry and Mrs. May Belle Ivey of Lau rens. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Gray Court. Arthur L. Long rites Saturday Arthur Lee Long, 77, of Rt. 2, Pomaria, died Friday morn ing at the Newberry County Me morial Hospital. Born in New berry County, he was a son of the late George Simpson and Carrie Leitzsey Long. He was a retired farmer, a veteran of World War I, a member of the American Legion, and a mem ber of Bethetem Lutheran Church. Surviving are his wife, Mat- tie Ringer Long, a son, Ray Long of Pomaria; two daugh ters, Mrs. Paul Blair of Char lotte and Mrs. Charles May- field of Columbia; four sisters, Mrs. Ola Harmon of Pomaria, Mrs. Claude Cromer, Mrs. Grace Barden, and Mrs. Bes sie Cannon all of Columbia; four brothers, C. Eric Long, Robert Long, Richard Long all of Pomaria, and Ernest Long of Columbia; ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held 3 p.m. Saturday from Bethle hem Lutheran Church with Rev. Charles Shealy conducting the service. Burial was in the church cemetery. Patrolman had relatives here Funeral services for Jimmy Ameche Traylor, 30, of the S. C. Highway Patrol, who was shot to death while on duty Friday, were held Monday mor ning. Patrolman Traylor, a native of Fairfield County, was a son of Charlie Meador Traylor of Blair and the late Florine Fea- ster Traylor. He was a member of Claremont Masonic Lodge BPOE No. 856; He wag a gra duate of Monticello High School in Blair. Services were at 11 a.m. Mon day in Northside Baptist Church with burial in Evergreen Ce metery in Sumter. Surviving are his father; step mother, Mrs. Louise McDonald Traylor of Blair; his widow, Mrs. Carolyn Louise Boulware Traylor of Sumter; two daugh ters, Misses Tracey Lynne Traylor and Nancy Louise Tray lor of the home; two sisters, Mrs. Louie DeHart of Carlisle and Mrs. Jeff Waldrop of New berry; and three brothers, Char lie M. Traylor, David Traylor and Henry Traylor of New berry. WICHITA FALLS - Airman Michael R. Harmon, son of Mr. and Mrs. F. J. Harmon, 2308 Main St., has graduated at Sheppard AFB, Tex., from the U.S. Air Force air freight spe cialist course. Airman Harmon, who com pleted the course with honors, is a 1965 graduate of Newberry High School. He received his B.S. degree in business admi nistration in 1970 from Baptist College in Charleston.
