(Sunphoto) College bands perform Friday Three Newberry College bands will perform at 10 a.m. Friday, November 20, in the Batesburg-Leesville High School auditorium. The three bands—the Concert Band, the Rock Band, and the College “N” Orchestra—are un der the direction of Charles Pruitt, associate professor of music. Culclasure rites at Spartanburg James Wesley Culclasure, 53, of Spartanburg, died Sunday. A native of Newberry County and a veteran of World War II, he was personnel manager of Firestone Tire Co. He was a son of W. W. and Louise Addy Culclasure of Lyman. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Margaret S. Culclasure; and a daughter, Mrs. Charles T. Campbell of Moncks Corner. Graveside services were held 3 p.m. Monday in Spartanburg. Ben H. Maybin died Monday Ben H. Maybin Sr., 84, died Monday in White Rock. Son of the late Frankie and Octivia Evans Maybin, he was a retired farmer and a mem ber of Fairview Baptist Church. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. L. D. Smith of Pooler, Ga.; and two sons, Ben H. Maybin Jr. of Mt. Vernon, Ga., and W. Sims Maybin of Columbia. Funeral services were Wed nesday at 3 p.m. at Fairview Baptist Church. J. C. Arrowood dies in mishap Johnny C. Arrowood, 21, of Joanna, was killed in an auto accident Friday night near Mountville. Mr. Arrowood was the son of Samuel I and Mary Johnson Arrowood of Joanna. He was a former employee of Mansure Co. and a former member of the U. S. Marines. Surviving are his parents; two sisters, Mrs. Pearl Wilson of Roanoke Rapids, N. C., and Miss Kathy Arrowood of Joan na; two brothers, Randall and Kenneth Arrowood of Joanna; maternal grandfather, Claude Johnson of Joanna; and pater nal grandmother, Mrs. Julia Ar rowood of Marion, N. C. Funeral services were held Monday at 3 p.m. in Pentecos tal Holiness Church with burial in Rosemont Cemetery. Mrs. Sallie Shealy last rites held Mrs. Sallie Fulmer Shealy, 86, widow of Thompson L. Shealy, died Monday in Laurens. She was born in Saluda Coun ty, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Noah Fuller. She was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer. Surviving are four sons, Noah Pat Shealy of Arlington, Va., Wyman M. Shealy of Clinton, C. Hayne Shealy of Newberry and the Rev. James Lee Shealy of Augusta, Ga.; a daughter, Mrs. L. D. Shealy of Summer- field, N. C.; a sister, Mrs. Fan nie Riser of Leesville; seven great-great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Wednesday at 3 p.m. at the Lutheran Church of the Re deemer. Burial was in Mt. Oli vet Lutheran Church cemetery near Prosperity. Mrs. J. W. Wilson passed Thursday Mrs. Louise Senn Wilson, 80, died late Thursday night at the Newberry County Memorial Ho spital. Mrs. Wilson was born and reared in Newberry County and was the daughter of the late David Rufus and Emma Ste wart Senn. She was the widow of the late J. W. Wilson Sr. and was a member of Smyrna Presbyterian Church and had made her home in the Long shore section of Newberry Coun ty. Surviving are three grand children, Barry Wilson and Mrs. Dianne Wilson Davis, both of Columbia, Tommy St. John of Newberry; two sisters, Mrs. Gladys Lupo and Mrs. Rebecca Lupo both of Greenville; and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m. from Smyrna Presbyterian Church with Rev.. Charles Gaha- gan conducting the service. In terment was in the church ce metery. Active pallbearers were Tho mas Boozer, Colie Fulmon, Bob Dorroh, Allen Senn, McTeer Senn, and Alfred Dorroh. Eleazer service held in Columbia Miss Nancy Rae Eleazer, 46, of Columbia, died last week at the Baptist Hospital. She was the daughter of the late Dave and Lucile Long Elea zer and granddaughter of Mrs. J. W. Long of Little Mountain. She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Bryson Lowman of Co lumbia. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at Asce- nion Lutheran Church in Colum bia with burial in Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church Cemetery in Little Mountain. Tricentennial Celebration: During 1970 South Carolina is celebrating her 300th birthday. Nancy Ruff of Newber ry 4-H and her Jersey Heifer represent the Tricentennial Celebration in the Costume Class at the South Carolina State Fair. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Henry Ruff.
