The light has been a real help to those of us who drive frequently in that area, and especially for those traveling on Drayton Street, trying to get into Boundary or across Boundary. Soon, we hope, the familiar red and green colors will again be showing. Brantlee Price on tv program WIS Television has announced the assignment of Miss Brantlee C. Price, “Miss South Carolina, 1970” as guest interviewer for the 9 a.m. weekday morning telecast, “Today in Carolina”. She began her assignment on Monday of this week. Miss Price was contacted by the station to serve in the capa city of guest interviewer during the absence of vacationing Lynn Nevius, Women’s Editor for the station, who is usually seen on “Today in Carolina” as the co hostess. Having just completed a year as her state’s primary beauty representative, Miss Price is well-versed in the trends in women’s fashions which are re ceiving closer scrutiny of wom en and men alike this year than ever before. During her two- week stay, Miss Price will in terview representatives of Gla mor Magazine and Brides Maga zine, with a fashion show and models provided by the latter publication. Also the Newberry native will be visiting with her recently selected successor, Claudia C. Turner of Spartanburg. Brant lee will be attending Queens College this fall as a junior, majoring in music. L Dennis dies at clinic Jesse Lee Dennis, 79, Route 2, Prosperity, died Wednesday at Mills Clinic after a lingering ill ness. Mr. Dennis was born in this county, a son of the late N. Y. and Cornelia Longshore Dennis. He was a retired employee of the Mollohon Plant of the Ken dall Company and was a mem ber of Summer Memorial Luth eran Church. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mary Yochem Dennis; one son, J. Lee Dennis of Prosper ity; one daughter, Mrs. H. L. Brock of Newberry; two broth ers, H. J. Dennis of Columbia and James Dennis of Boone, N. C.; one granddaughter, two grandsons and two great-grand children. Funeral services were con ducted Friday at his Church by Rev. Pierce Evans and Rev. G. B. Corley. Interment was in Newberry Memorial Gardens. Youth attend 4-H conference Eleven 4-H members repre sented Newberry County at the eighth annual State 4-H Club Conference held at Clemson University recently. The theme of the Conference was “Make Tomorrow Happen” and feat ured Glebe McClary of George town as the key speaker. All 4-H members attending were selected as County Win ners and had submitted their achievement records in projects and activities for State com petition. Blue Ribbon winners will be eligible to compete for State Awards, including trips, scholarships, and bonds this fall. Dr. DuBose to begin practice Dr. E. Benton BuBose has opened his office for the prac tice of general denistry at 2568 Kinard Street in Newberry. After serving two years with the United States Navy, Dr. DuBose was graduated from the University of South Carolina. He is a 1970 graduate of the University of Louisville School of Denistry with the degree, Doctor of Dental Medicine, and is a member of Omicron Kappa Upsilon honor dental fraternity and Phi Kappa Phi national hon or society. A native of Columbia, Dr. DuBose now resides in Loblolly Estates with his wife, the former Lynn Fishburne of Atlanta and two sons. FRANK C. NORRIS DIES THURSDAY Frank Claude Norris, 74, of Callison, died Thursday. Bom in Newberry County, a son of the late Abney and Lucy Hargrove Norris, he had lived in Callison since 1938. Surviving are a daughter, two sons and two sisters. Funeral services were held Monday in Greenwood. Child killed in Ohio accident Funeral services for Michelle Sanderson, 7-year-old daughter of Prof, and Mrs. Dennis San derson of Newberry College, were held Friday in Toledo, Ohio. Michelle was fatally injured wen the car in which she was riding, driven by her mother, was involved in a collision on Interstate Highway 75 in Ohio Monday afternoon of last week. The little girl’s father was in Sicily at the time, complet ing research work for a doc toral thesis. Mrs. Sanderson and a four year old son Dennis Douglas, escaped serious injury. Surviving, in addition to her parents, are her maternal grandparents, Erwin Heitzman and Mrs. Marianne Heitzman of Toledo, and her paternal grand parents, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Buchmiller of Orange City, Fla. Henderson opens headquarters The Piedmont headquarters of “Henderson for Lieutenant Gov ernor”, will be opened at 12 noon, Monday, August 10, ac cording to Mrs. Walter Wallace, Newberry County campaign chairman for Candidate Hen derson. The headquarters will be lo cated on Antrim Drive, oppos ite McAlister Shopping Center in Greenville, Mrs. Wallace said. The public is cordially invited to attend the opening. FORT HOOD - Army Special ist Four Moses Boyd, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bennie L. Boyd, Route 1, Prosperity, recently received the Good Conduct Medal while assigned to the 2nd Armored Division at Ft. Hood, Texas. Spec. 4 Boyd received the award for exemplary conduct, efficiency and fidelity in active military service. The specialist, a gunner with Battery C, 1st Battalion of the division’s 3rd Artillery, entered the Army in July 1968 and was stationed at Ft. Jackson.
