BKF.EIMN - Tumult and disaster seem to be the order of the day. At one time we heard much of this from California. Those of us who have spent some time in Calif ornia recall the beauty of the state and the good will of its people; today California seems to be in one conflict or another. Today we have riotous demon strations if we look North, East. West or South. When it comes to the North, New York, Massa chusetts and Pennsylvania head the list The colleges and universities in the nation, one by one, seem to engage in battle For a long time South Caro lina seemed to enjoy peace anu quiet, serious devotion to duty. In recent months even we have had upheavals in Orangeburg, Charleston, Denmark and now South Carolina University! Who ever would have thought that would happen? Carolina!! Where do we go from there!! I earnestly hope our little state can settle down to peace, quiet and prosperity. Prosperity depends upon work. No state or community can thrive on tumult. SCHOOL LIBRARIES TO BE OPEN Under the Title I Program of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act for Newberry County, three public school lib raries will be open to the pub lic Monday through Friday, from June 8 to July 24. The following schedule will be observed; Boundary Street School, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.; Gall- man High School, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.; and Carver Elementary School at Whitmire, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Staff will be available to serve the public.
