Dr. Jeremias won the Rose- dale Bowl exhibiting the follow ing five cultivans: Golden Girl a grandiflora; Papa Meilland, a hybrid tea; Granada, a hybrid tea; Arthur Bell, a floribunda; Tiki, a floribunda. He also won a silver award for Sunspot, best in the section for a floribunda exhibited as a single bloom, naturally grown. He also competed in the Au gusta Rose Show where his min iature rose Jet Trail won the miniature Queen Silver Award for the best miniature in the show. He also won the Princess Silver Award with Mr. Lincoln, a hybrid tea, at the South Caro lina Rose Show in Columbia. He competed in the Winston-Salem Society’s Rose Show where he won ten more ribbons, two of which were blue ribbons. While on vacation in June, Dr. Jeremias and his family will attend the National Con vention of the American Rose Society in Denver, Colo. Dr. and Mrs. Jeremias will attend the meeting as delegates from the Newberry County Rose Society. Dr. Jeremias will also attend the Executive Board meeting as the Carolina District Director as well as the Redistricting and District Organization Committee meeting. C. May 16. It was at this show that Dr. Jeremias won the Rosedale Bowl trophy, a national trophy offered for com petition in the Carolina District for the first time. The Rosedale Perpetual Chal lenge Bowl, as it is known of ficially, was given to the Amer- ian Rose Society in 1950 to fur ther interest in rose growing and to encourage the exhibiting of roses. The Rosedale Bowl was won in competition for the first time at the Buckeye District Con ference Show in Columbus, Ohio September 1951 by Dr. 0. M. Harper.
