Carpenter of Colum bia was scheduled to graduate with the U. S. Naval Academy Class of 1970 on June 3. He received a bachelor of science degree and was com missioned a second lieutenant in the Marine Corps. Midshipman Carpenter is the son of Retired Army Colonel and Mrs. D. 0. Carpenter, Jr. and grandson of the late D. 0.. Carpenter of this city. WICHITA FALLS - Airman Benny G. Rice, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Rice, Route 3, has graduated at Sheppard AFB, Tex. from the training course for U. S. Air Force aircraft mechanics. Airman Rice, who was train ed to repair current Air Force jet fighters, is being assigned to Seymour-Johnson AFB, N. C. for duty. He will be in the 4th Tactical Fighter Wing, a unit of the Tactical Air Command which provides combat units for air support of U. S. ground forces. He is a 1969 graduate of New berry High School.
