Elbert Dickert, 57, died Saturday at his residence on Route 3. Mr. Dickert was bom in this county, son of the late John William and Carrie Lee Living ston Dickert. He was a retired farmer and mechanic. He was a member of Bush River Bap tist Church and of the Wood men of the World. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mae Vivian Gary Dickert: two sons, Harvey R. Dickert of Clinton and Angus Dickert of Lake City; one brother, Ed Dickert of Clinton; four sisters, Mrs. Vinnie Hiller, Mrs. Floyd Reeder, Mrs. Lucille Griffin and Mrs. Virginia Eison, all of Whitmire; and four grand children. Funeral services were con ducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Whitaker Funeral Home by the Rev. T. G. Daum.Interment was in Newberry Memorial Gar dens. DR. BUSCH DIES; WIFE LIVED HERE Dr. John F. Busch, 68, of Mar ietta, Ga. died last Wednesday. He was the husband of Mrs. Bruce Lipscomb Busch, a native of Newberry, who survives. Funeral services were held on Friday at St. James Episcopal Church in Marietta. Burial was in Aiken. Fund campaign report given The 1969 Second Century cam paign of Newberry College is past the 80 percent mark in pledges as it begins the second year of a three-year period to raise $2,000,000 for the Lutheran school. The College’s Board of Trus tees heard a report on the cam paign during its annual meet ing last week from Dr. Robert C. Farb, director of develop ment for the College. The total amount pledged, Dr. Farb told the Board, is over $1,600,000 with collections total ing $620,000 in addition to the value of 102 acres of land on the northwest outskirts of New berry. The land with an appraised value of $150,000 was presented to the College in the fall of 1968 by the Kendall Company, international textile manufactur er that operates two plants in Newberry. The Kendall Com pany gave the College similar acreage in 1962, and part of the gift is still in the possession of the College but large portions have been sold for industrial and commercial developments. Eldredge B. Koon, 54, Route I, Pomaria, died Thursday at a Columbia hospital. Born in this county, he was a son of Eusebius H. and Lula Bowers Koon. He was shop fore man of Marion Burnside Motor Co. in Columbia, a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, a member of the Men’s Bible Class, a former member of the church council and a member of the Woodmen of the World. Surviving in addition to his parents are his wife, Argyra Wilson Koon; three sons, Jerry W. Koon of Batesburg, Ronnie E. and C. Randell Koon, both of Pomaria; a daughter, Miss Frances K. Koon of Pomaria; a sister, Mrs. Robert L. Long of Pomaria; two brothers, Lolan L. and Eric C. Koon, both of Pomaria; and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Friday from his church with the Rev. Harold F. Fuller and Rev. J. L. Drafts conducting. Burial was in the church cemetery. Miss Counts, 78, service Sunday Miss Lucille Counts, 78, of Little Mountain, died Saturday at the Providence Hospital in Columbia after a lingering ill ness. Miss Counts was born in this county, daughter of the late Walter Phillip and Elizabeth Lake Counts.
