Mrs. Louise Brooks Long, 72,
of Columbia, widow of Jasper
Newton Long, died Friday. She
was a sister of Mrs. Edith Hen
drix of Prosperity.
She was born in Fairfield, the
daughter of the late William Les

Mr. John Hammond, plant
superintendent at C—P Corp.'s
Newberry Plant, along with Phil
Palmpin and Ronnie Cromer,
members of the C—P Fire Bri
gade, presented a class and de
monstration to the members of
the Newberry Fire Department
at the Feb. 23 drill at the de
partment.
Mr. Hammond showed a film
on the proper use and handling
of Lucidol, a substance used as
a processing element in our
C—P plant here in Newberry.
A discussion was then entered
into by the group on how to
combat a fire when this sub
stance was present.
After the meeting, the C—P
group gave a demonstration on
how violently this substance will
burn. We at the Newberry Fire
Department would like to
press our appreciation to t.

Savings Bonds for winning posters and essays in the
contest sponsored by the Newberry County Beautifica

Donald Paul Jensen, son
of Mr. and Mrs. Donald P.
