THE OLDSTERS proved they were still young enough
to play an exciting basketball game at MacLean Gymnas
ium Wednesday night as the College faculty and staff
downed the Newberry High School faculty and staff 74-
70. Paul Savko, 87 (College), grabs the ball as Mel Bouk-
night, 25 (High School), guards him. The contest was
sponsored by the junior classes of the two schools.

PRECINCT MEETINGS
COUNTY CONVENTION
The Democratic Party Pre
cinct Clubs of Newberry Coun
ty will meet at their regular
voting precincts on Saturday,
February 28, 1970, at three
o’clock P.M. for the purpose of
reorganization.
Each club will elect a presi
dent, vice-president, secretary,
treasurer, executive committee
man and delegates to the coun
ty convention. Officers elected
must be reported to the Clerk
of Court for Newberry County
between the hours of 9-11 a.m.
on Monday, March 2, 1970. A
list of delegates certified to by
the president and secretary of
each club must be sent with the
delegates to the convention.
The county convention will be
held at eleven o’clock A.M. on
Monday, March 2, 1970 at the
Newberry County Court House.

NEWBERRY, S. C. South Carolina chemists ac
tive in the American Institute of Chemists (AIC) were
on the Newberry College campus last week to petition
the national headquarters to form a South Carolina chap
ter of the organization. Active in the proceedings were,
from left, M. H. Arveson, Clemson; Dr. Charles Jeremias,
head of the chemistry department at Newberry; Dr.
Richard H. Gadsden, professor of Chemistry at the
Medical University of South Carolina at Charleston; and
Dr. Charles N. Still, chief of neurology service at the
William S. Hall Psychiatric Institute at Columbia. Dr.
Still was elected president pro-temp of the group.
