PAGE 4—The Newberry Sun, Newberry, S. C., Thursday, January 15,1970 Miss Pauline Livingston and Lewis Hayne Davis were united in marriage at 4 P. M. on Sat urday, December 27, 1969 at the Lutheran Church of th Redeem er. Officiating were Pastor Henry A. McCullough, Jr., assisted by Pastor William Earl Stone. The bride is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs.Robert Edward Livingston, Jr. and the bride groom is the son of Mr, and Mrs. John Will Davis, all of Newberry. Calla lilies were used in the altar vases and the Chrismon trees were lighted in each corn er behind the altar. The family pews were marked with calla lilies. Professor Darr Wise of the Newberry College Faculty was the organist. His selections in cluded “Jesu, Joy of Man’s De siring” by Bach, “Sonatina”, from “God’s Time is Best” by Bach, “Pastorale” and “Lieb- ster Jesu" by Purvis and “Aria” by Flor Peeters. “Trumpet Vol unteer” was used as a process ional for the wedding party and the bride used the “Bridal Chor us” from Lohengrin. “The Wed ding March” was used as the recessional. Mrs. Woodrow Koon, soloist, sang “The Song of Ruth” and “0 Perfect Love”. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a gown of candlelight peau de sole. The full skirt was bordered at the bottom with wide Alencon lace. The tight bodice was trimmed with Alencon lace embroidered with pearls to form a high Sab rina neckline. Full Bishop sleeves were trimmed with lace as was the full attached chapel train. A full length veil made in France of Alencon lace was used. The bride carried a hand made lace handkerchief from Venice which had been used by her grandmother, mother and sister at their weddings. Her only ornament was a Cameo necklace set in pearls which was a gift to her great-grand mother, the late Mrs. Gorge W. Summer, from her husband on her 50th Wedding Anniver sary. The bride carried a bou quet of white rosebuds and step- hanous. Mrs. James Harvey Wilkerson. Jr. of Columbia was her sister’s matron of honor. She wore a floor length red velveteen dress. It was featured in Empire sil houette having a semibateau neck, long sleeves accnted at the wrist with multi-colored braid. The bodice was accented with the same braid front and back, a small green satin bow was used in the front with long streamers. She carried a bou quet of pink sweetheart roses, pink net and camellia leaves in the shape of a crescent. Miss Margart Kern Lominack of Newberry was maid of honor. Bridesmaids included Miss Gret- chen Kaye Anderson, Miss Kath- erine Elizabeth McCullough, Miss Paula Cuthbertson, cousin of the groom, all of Newberry, and Miss Susan Simpson Wise, cousin of the bride, of Green wood. They were dressed simi lar to the matron of honor and carried similar bouquets. Mr. John Will Davis served as his son’s best man. Ushergroomsmen were Will iam Hayne Franklin, HI, cousin of the groom, of Charlotte, N.C.; James Buist Franklin, cousin of the groom, John David Folk, James Parks Coggins, all of Newberry, Dr. Robert Edward Livingston III of Atlanta, Geor gia, brother of the bride, and James Harvey Wilkerson, Jr., of Columbia, brother-in-law of the bride. The flower girl was Miss Cyn thia Lee Turbeville of Newber ry. She was dressed in a short red velveteen dress made simi lar to the bridal attendants. She scattered rose petals from a lace basket. The bride’s nephew, Robert E. Livingston IV of At lanta served as ring bearer. He was dressed in a grey short pants suit with a white tucked shirt and carried the rings on a white satin lace trimmed pil low. Andrew Ralph Hawkins of Newberry, cousin of the groom, served as Acolyte. The mother of the bride wore a street length dress of aqua ed apricot silk with matching coat, a bronze hat and shoes, and a bronze orchid corsage. The mother of the groom wore a street Ingth dress of aqua silk with a full length matching coat and matching accessories and an orchid corsage. The grandmother of the bride, Mrs. Sunie J. Livingston, wore a black suit and an orchid cor sage. The grandmother of the groom Mrs. Josie Franklin, wore a pink dress and an orchid cor sage. For a wedding trip to Miami Beach, the bride chose a Kelly green dress and matching full length coat ensemble with white skin accessories and an orchid corsage. Mrs. Davis is a December graduate of Winthrop College, with a B. S. degree in physical education. She is teaching phy sical education at Newberry high school. Mr. Davis is a student at Newberry College and works at Radio Station WKDK, New berry. The couple is residing at 1233 Calhoun Street. RECEPTION Dr. and Mrs. Livingston en tertained with a reception in the Fellowship Hall of the church following the ceremony. Mr. and Mrs. R. E. Summer and Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Wise welcomed the guests and invit ed them to the reception and to stop by the home of the bride. Dr. and Mrs. Von Long invited the guests to the refreshment table, where punch was served by Mrs. Charles Phibbs and Mrs. Berley Hawkins. The re freshment table was covered with a pink satin cloth overlaid with net. A silver epergne held an arrangement of pink snap dragons, pink carnations, and bells of Ireland. Refreshments consisted of assorted sandwich es, ham biscuits, chicken salad puffs, cheese straws, nuts and assorted cakes. The Misses Beth Anderson, Lynn Lominack, Melissa Turbe ville, Alyson Turbeville, and Lisa Lynch assisted in serving and also passed mints. The wed ding cake was placed on a hand some reflector on a satin cover ed tablecloth overlaid with net. Behind the cake were two seven branched candelabra entwined with fern. After the bride and groom cut the first slice, Mrs. Oscar Summer, Miss Grace Summer, Mrs. Myron Berry and Miss Julianne Summer cut and served the cake to the guests. The bride’s register was placed in the Narthex of the church and kept by Mrs. Robert E. Living ston III and Mrs. Jean Wise Lynch. Receiving at the Livingston home were Mr. and Mrs. Pope Buford, Jr., Dr. and Mrs. Van Anderson and Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Parr. REHEARSAL DINNER Immediately following the re hearsal on December 26th, the parents of the groom, Mr. and Mrs. John Will Davis entertain ed members of the wedding par ty and invited guests at a buffet supper at the Community Hall. The setting was especially lovely with Christmas wreaths and gar lands. The buffet table was cen tered with red carnations. On arrival, the guests were served lime punch by Mrs. Lula Cuth bertson. On Saturday morning, Decem ber 27, aunts of the bride, Miss Grace Summer, Mrs. Oscar Summer, Mrs. Earl Summer and Mrs. William R. Wise, were hos tesses at a brunch at the home of Miss Grace Summer, for members of the wedding party and invited guests. The bride was remembered with an en graved wedding cake knife to be used to cut the wedding cake. The bride’s place was marked with a white orchid. Miss Liv ingston presented hand made petit-point pins from Vienna, Austria to her bridesmaids. Dr. Robert E. Livingston, Jr. honored Mr. Davis with a lunch eon at the Mid-Carolina Club on Saturday, December 27th. A delicious three course luncheon was served to the men of the wedding party and invited guests. Mr. Davis presented gifts to the men of the wedding party at this time. Out of Town Guests Among the out of town guests attending the Davis-Livingston wedding were Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Wise, Mr. W. R. Wise, Jr., Mr. C. Rauch Wise, Mrs. Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Roy Summer of 1225 Calhoun St. announce the engagement of their daughter, Eliza beth Gibson and Paul Clayton Akers, son of Mr. Paul Addison Akers and the late Emmee Nelson Akers of Kitty Hawk, North Carolina. The bride-elect is a graduate of Newberry High School and the University of South Carolina where she was a member of Alpha Delta Pi social sorority. She is pres ently a Spanish teacher at C. E. Williams Intermediate school in Charleston. The bride-groom elect is a graduate of Manteo High school and the University of North Carolina. He is pres ently a student at the Medical College of South Carolina in Charleston. A June 6th wedding is being planned.
