HONG KONG SANTA
In Hong Kong, there is a
Santa Claus, but the name is
different. Everything else is
much the same, however, as
”San Tan You Lin” is found in
many department stores,
specially costumed for the
season, and quick to hold a
youngster on his knee and
listen to a list of Christmas
gift requests.
FLOWERY WELCOME
Flowering plants can add
a special touch to Christmas
decorations. A single plant
may be used anywhere in the
home. A plant on each of the
three lower steps on a stair
way bid a friendly welcome to
entering guests. Groupings on
a tray can be focal point for
an entire room.
May the peace of Christinas and the
blessings of the season be with you.

Ancient Legend
An ancient legend tells of
Three Wise Men stopping to
ask directions of an old
woman, Befana. They invited
her to go with them to wor
ship the new-born King, but
she would not leave until she
had swept her house and
baked her bread. So the Wise
Men left without her.
When her housework was
finished, Befana packed a
basket of toys for the Christ
Child and set out after the
Wise Men, but she never over
took them. So every Christmas
she searches for the Christ
Child with her basket of toys,
leaving gifts for the children
in each house she passes.
Age Old Hope-.
Peace On Earth
Christmas means more
than the annual celebration of
a day or a season. It is a uni
versal symbol of the generosity
of the human spirit. There is
in all creeds throughout the
world an anniversary on
which reverence is paid to a
certain "something” ... a
divine spirit which constantly
calls for individual dedication
to the service of humanity.
Whether it be the teachings
of Confucius or Mohammed or
Buddha or Moses or Jesus,
we find in all religions an age-
old concept embracing these
commandments; "Thou shalt
not kill; Thou shall not steal;
Thou shalt love thy neighbor
as thyself; ”
The Christmas season ai-
fords an occasion and an op
portunity for us to reach out
to our fellow man across the
world and to speak the words
that have lasted through cen
turies but have a new meaning “
now. We can remind each other
at Christmas time that sacrifice
is not obsolete and that
brotherly love is the cardinal
precept for human behavior.
