ing improvements in the 1970 Chrysler
line significantly reduce transmission to
the body of road noise and vibration
through the use of rubber insulators.
Main styling changes center on front
and rear and bodv side ornamentation.
All interiors are upgraded in the 1970
Chrysler line, which includes five series:
Newport, Newport Custom, 300, New
Yorker, and Town & Country station
wagons. Rear track has been widened
for better stability and appearance.

The 1970 line of Chryslers
features major improvements in
the suspension system which
significantly reduce road noise
and vibration. This reduction
has been accomplished through
the installation of rubber insul
ators in the suspension system
to eliminate continuous metal
lic paths for the transmission
of noise and vibration to the
body. The insulators separate
the front frame structure from
the passenger compartment and
mount the rear axle and springs
:n a rubber ‘‘sandwich”.
Working in conjuction with
these changes are forward body
reinforcements to insure shake-
free feel, a rubber coupling add
ed to the steering column to
prevent transmission of vibrat
ion to the steering wheel, and
additional sound insulation to
the rear seat and shelf panel
area to reduce further noise in
the passenger compartment.
New grilles, new full loop
rear bumper, rear deck, and
associated body panels signifi
cantly update front and rear end
appearance. The massive full
loop front bumper is retained.
A new wider rear track pro
vides increased stability and
further enhances appearance.
Revised full-width tail lights
for the 300 and New Yorker
provide identity for these mod
els. Newport and Newport Cus
tom models continue the use of
unique taillights.
All interior are upgraded thru-
out the 1970 Chrysler line. Sel
ected seat and door combina
tions offer highly styled full
bench seats, individual bucket
seats, and the three-in-one bench
seat option.
The 383 cubic-inch two-barrel
engine, which uses regular gas
oline, is standard in the New
port, Custom Newport, and the
Town & Country. The powerful
440 cubic-inch single exhaust
four barrel is optional in these
models. The potent High Per
formance 440 cubic-inch four-
barrel TNT engine is optional
in 300, New Yorker and Town
& Country.
Other new' features on 1970
Chryslers include: dual rear
speakers on wagons as well as
cars; long-wearing fiberglass
belted tires; new larger L84xl5
inch tires on the New Yorker;
locking steering column with
column-mounted ignition key,
and warning buzzer; positive
action glove box latch; new
horn switch operated by squeez
ing a soft strip on the inside
of the steering wheel rim; new
chrome plated stamped steel
road wheels available; new
speed-shift gate for automatic
transmission shift linkage; new
bucket seat console; new low
fuel warning light; new deluxe
seat belts; and new Cleaner Air
System improvements.
