The Newberry Sun, Newberry, S. C., Thursday, Sept. 18, 1969—PAGE 5 1969 predecessor, the Fairlane, and offers the first four-door hardtop models in Ford Divi sion’s intermediate line. Five series provide a choice of economy, luxury and per formance. Thirteen models are available in Fairlane 500, Tor ino, Torino GT, Torino Brough am and Torino Cobra series. All have new grilles, t a i 1- lamps and ornamentation. Con cealed headlamps are optional with Torino and Torino GT mod els and standard on Torino Brougham models. Windshield wipers are hidden when not in use. Interiors feature new trim, new instrument panels with hor izontal speedometer and Flow- Thru Ventilation systems for quieter, more comfortable win- dows-up driving. Lively “Blazer’ patterns, red stripe or ginger stripe trims, are available on Torino, Torino GT and Torino Cobra models. Black Watch and Rob Roy Red plaid cloth and vinyl trims are available ' on Torino and Torino Squire stat ion wagons. Twenty-one models in the Ford line, 14 cars and seven station wagons, are offered in Custom, Custom 500, Galaxie 500, XL, LTD and the new LTD Brough am series. New front- and rear-end de sign gives the Ford a more for mal appearance. LTD, also the LTD Brougham and XL models share a dramatic new grille with a bold center section that projects slightly. Headlamps are concealed when not in use. LTD Brougham brings a new, higher than ever level of luxury to the Ford car with unique in terior trim, exterior ornamen tation and many other appear ance and convenience items. New exterior paint and vinyl roof colors are offered. Vinyl roofs and plaid cloth and vinyl interior trims also are avail able on station wagons. The 1970 Mustang offers a completely redesigned front and rear. Interiors offer bold new colors and optional patterned up holstery. Seven models are available, including the hardtop, convert ible, fastback-designed Sports- Roof, Grande hardtop, Mach I, Boss 302 and the limited pro duction Boss 429. A three-quarter Landau-style vinyl roof is standard on the luxurious Grande, and the hot Mach I comes on stronger than ever with stem-to-stern design changes. Mustang’s technical changes enhance its reputation for fine riding quality, easy road hand ling ability and responsive steer ing. Engines range from the base 200-c.i.d. Six to the powerful 429 V-8’s.
