Entertaining in the hall were Mr. and Mrs. Paul Walker Whitaker and Mr. and Mrs. Wil liam Everett Thornton of Col umbia. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Edwin Beck invited the guests into the dining room. Punch was served by Mrs. Ben Earl Gramling of Gramling, and Mrs. David Aar on Martin of Greenville Others assisting in the dining room were Misses Claire Whitaker, Karen Kirkegard, Mary Helen Whitaker and Mrs. James Crow ley. The bride’s table was covered with a banquet cloth of linen and lace and centered with a five-tiered wedding cake, em bossed in a traditional motif, and topped by a cluster of wed ding bells. Based on a reflector, the cake was encircled by an illusion ruffle interspersed with stephanotis. Refreshments were also serv ed from the sun deck where the banquet table was centered with a large iced fruit bowl. Punch was served by Mrs. Wil liam Everett Corley and Mrs. Jack Whitesides. Assisting with the serving were Misses Pat Underwood, Gayle Setzler and Mrs. Heber Long. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Doggett Whitaker invited the guests into this area. Entertaining in the family room were Mr. and Mrs. Otis Lane Whitaker and Mr. and Mrs. William Jordan. Miss Carolyn Lane presided at the bride’s register. Mr. and Mrs. Donald Elbert Thornton and Mr. and Mrs. Harold Brown were in the gift room. Little Misses Donna Ann and Jenny Thornton, Tammy Brown and Sharon Corley, cousins of the bride, passed mints and nuts. Preceding the rehearsal on Friday evening a dinner party for members of the wedding party and out of town guests was held in the Fellowship room of the First Baptist Church. Hosts were Mr. and Mrs. Otis Lane Whitaker, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Walker Whitaker, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Doggett Whitaker and Mr. and Mrs. James Ralph Wil liams. The dinner tables were beautifully decorated using ar rangements of shasta daisies and ivy. Covers were placed for thirty-five. On Saturday, June 7, Mrs. Gordon D. Blackwell and Mrs. Louis C. Floyd entertained at lunch for members of the bri dal party and cousins of the bride-elect. Places were laid for sixteen at the lovely Black- well home. Centering the table was a beautiful arrangement of pale pink roses which carried out a color scheme of pink and white. Miss Whitaker was pre sented a corsage of white gar denias. A gift from the hostess es was a silver footed butter dish. Miss Ruff wed to Mr. Harmon Miss Marilyn Ann Ruff, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ray mond Hampton Ruff, Sr., of Newberry, became the bride of Mr. David Oswald Harmon on Friday, May 30. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Raymond Harmon of Newberry. The impressive double ring ceremony in Aveleigh Presby- erian Church was performed by Dr. Neil E. Truesdell. The bride is a 1968 graduate of Newberry High School and will graduate from Palmer Col lege in August. Mr. Harmon graduated from Newberry High School in 1965 and attended Palmer College. He is in business with his fath- After a wedding trip to the mountains, the couple is resid ing on Route 1, Newberry. Miss Janice Carole Stone and Mr. John Lawrence Rockholz were united in holy matrimony on June 6 at seven o’clock in the Associate Reformed Presby terian Church of Newberry. The Rev. E. L. Bland officiat ed. The church was tradition ally decorated with white tapers in brass candelabra, palms and floor baskets with white mums, pompons and gladiola. The brid al couple used a white-covered kneeling bench. Mrs. John Bell Wise of Bates- burg rendered nuptial music on the organ. Miss Elizabeth Baker sang, “I Love Thee” and “The Lord’s Prayer”. Acolytes were Philip Rock holz of Norwalk, Conn., brother of the groom, and Tommy Clary of New Ellenton, cousin of the bride. Serving as ushers were Keith Nichols of Newberry, Ro bert E. Chapman and John D. Russ of Columbia, and Peter Rockholz of Norwalk, Conn., a brother of the groom. William L. Rockholz was his sqn’s best man. Miss Pamela Slice, the bride’s roommate at the University of South Carolina, was Maid of Honor. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Richard Oetgen, Orangeburg; Miss Sandra Morris, Columbia; and Miss Lynn Hamilton, cou sin of the bride of New Ellen ton. Dresses of the attendants were mint green, made of imported organza over taffeta, A-line in style with empire waist made of satin belting forming a bow with streamers in back. The neckline was high with ruffles and short puffed sleeves were also trimmed with ruffles. Head pieces were of matching satin made into bows. They carried pale pink sweetheart roses with pink carnations nosegays. Honorary bridesmaids were Misses Patricia Tarlton, Doris Duncan and Donna Scholl, all of Columbia, and Ginger Gor don and Sandra Smith of New berry. The radiant bride was given in marriage by her uncle 0. R. Higgins.
