1. Question: How are the Officers and Directors
of your Newberry County United Fund elect
ed?
Answer: Any person who contributes to the
Newberry County United Fund is a member.
Each member present at the Annual Meeting
can vote for the Officers and Directors of his
choice.
2. Question: How much salary and expense
money are paid to the Officers and Directors
of your Newberry County United Fund?
Answer: NONE! These citizens volunteer their
services, receive no pay for their work, and
pay their own expenses to meetings, dinners,
etc.
3. Question: Who does receive a salary from
your Newberry County United Fund?
Answer: The part-time secretary is the only
person on the payroll of your Newberry Coun
ty United Fund. Her salary is paid partly by
the Newberry County Development Board
and your Newberry County United Fund.
Last year the secretary received $2,157.86
from your Newberry County United Fund.
4. Question: Why aren’t all Agencies Included
under your Newberry County United Fund?
Answer: The Heart Fund, The Cancer Fund,
and the other maior Agencies have been re
quested to join your Newberry County United
Fund. They have declined for reasons of their
own. The invitation to work through your
Newberry County United Fund is still open.
These Agencies would be very welcome as
a part of your Newberry County United Fund.
5. Question: How does any organization or agen
cy become a part of your Newberry County
United Fund?
Answer: Any worthwhile service agency or
organization can request admission to your
Newberry County United Fund by writing to:

6. Question: What is necessary for an agency to
receive funds from your Newberry County
United Fund?
Answer: Records of the agency’s activities in
Newberry County are studied by the members
of the Budget and Admissions Committee. If
the agency is serving a need in Newberry
County the agency may become a part of
your Newberry County United Fund provided
the Board of Directors approves the Commit
tee’s recommendation.
7. Question: Can a person who gives to your
Newberry County United Fund select the
agencies who will receive his help?
Answer: Not in the past, but, this vear the
person who gives the United Way wili be able
to indicate a choice on his pledge card.
8. Question: Why doesn’t your Newberry County
United Fund hold “Open Meetings”?
Answer: “Open Meetings” are held every year
with invitations published in the newspapers
and on the radio stations.
9. Question: What will happen if your Newberry
County United Fund is discontinued?
Answer: Each of the agencies who receive
funds from your Newberry County United
Fund will probably have a funds campaign
of its own.
10. Question: How can all charitable agencies be
encouraged to join your Newberry County
United Fund?
Answer: Your Newberry County United Fund
must receive the full support of the citizens
of Newberry County. When this happens all
of the charitable agencies may feel it is to
their advantage to work through the United
Fund.
11. Question: How does an individual receive
help from your Newberry County United
Fund?
Answer: Your Newberry County United Fund
does not make assistance payments directly
to any individual. Persons needing assistance
may go to your Newberry County United
Fund office for help in contacting the proper
agency designed to meet their particular need.
