pays dividend
Dividend payments totaling
$945,581 will be distributed to
savings members of South Car
olina’s largest savings and
loan association for the quar
ter ending December 31. Pay
ments by Standard Savings and
Loan Association during 1968
will exceed $3,140,000.
The year-end dividend was
declared by Standard’s Board
of Directors and announced to
day in Newberry by Pinckney
N.. Abrams, Senior Vice Pres
ident. It was computed at the
rate of 4 1/2 per cent per an
num on passbook savings. In
cluded also are earnings on 5
per cent and 5 1/4 per cent
Savings Certificates issued by
Standard.
Mr. Abrams said, “We are
pleased to welcome many new
savers. A strong inlrease in
activity has been experienced
during the past quarter in all
services. Certificates continue
to attract investment savings
through higher returns, and
passbook accounts have also
grown significantly in num
ber.”
Dividends are now compound
ed quarterly by the Association
on Savings Certificates and
Passbook Accounts.

perity, died early Friday night
at the Newberry County Mem
orial hospital. A lifelong resid
ent of this county, she was the
daughter of the late J. Luther
and Kisah Morris Bowers. She
attended the Church of Christ
of West Columbia.
Surviving is her husband,
Morse Buford Dominick; three
sisters, Mrs. Ethel Boozer of
Salisbury, N. C., Miss Amelia
Bowers and Mrs. Howard Wes-
. singer, both of Prosperity; two
brothers, George Bowers, of
Prosperity and Sam Pat Bow
ers of Clinton.
Graveside services were held
Sunday from Zion Methodist
church cemetery conducted by
Rev. Larry Jones and the Rev.
Raymond Brock.
