C., Thursday, ^)ec. 12, 1968 Miss Amelia Louise Monts of Route 3, Lancaster and James Kennerley Davis of Newberry, and Lancaster were married on Friday evening, November 22 in an eight o’clock ceremony at the First Methodist church of Lancaster. After a wedding trip to Flor ida, Mr. and Mrs. Davis will be at home in Greenville. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Freeman Monts, Jr. of Route 3, Lancas ter. She graduated in 1967 from Columbia College with a B.A. degree in mathematics. Prior to her wedding, she was employed as a computer programmer with Springs Mills, Inc. Mr. Davis is the son of Mr. and Mrs. James Henry Davis of 2217 Henry Avenue, New berry. He was graduated from Newberry College in 1965 with a B.S. degree in accounting. While at Newberry College he was a member of Kappa Alpha Order social fraternity. He is now a member of the Palmetto Military Academy. Mr. Davis is employed with Peat, Mar wick and Mitchell, Certified Public Accountants in Green ville. Vows of the double ring cer emony were heard by the Rev Charles A. Graves, pastor of the church, in a traditional green and white setting. Four nine branched brass floor can delabra and palms were used in the background; altar vases of white mixed flowers and a smylax garland along the altar rail completed the setting. Wedding music was present ed by Miss Caroline Kirk Col lins, organist, of Lancaster. Given in marriage by her fa ther, the bride wore a princess style gown of ivory delustered satin Peau de soie. The gown had elbow length sleeves of re embroidered pearled Alencon lace, and this same lace motif was used on the bodice giving the front a bolero effect. En hancing the A-lines of t h € skirt, the hem was banded by a wide scalloped strip of the Alencon lace. A watteau panel train fea turing lace appliques and seed pearls was designed into the back neckline and flowed from a double bow into a full chapel length train. Complementing the bridal gown, the bride wore a floor length mantilla designed of iv ory silk illusion and edged en tirely with a border of the scalloped lace. This was held by a hat designed of peau and Alencon lace. Her bouquet was berry ribbon to match the bridesmaids’ dresses. They car ried pink lace baskets. For her daughter’s wedding, Mrs. Monts wore a floor length dress of cerise shantung trim med in lace with three-quarter length sleeves and matching ac cessories. Her corsage was of white cymbidium orchids. Mrs. Davis wore a floor length dress of sea blue chiffon and match ing accessories. Her corsage was of white cymbidium or chids. stephanotis centered with white cymbidium orchids. She car ried a handerchief made by her maternal grandmother especial ly for her wedding. The groom had his father as best man. Usher-groomsmen were William Freeman Monts III, brother of the bride, of Lancaster; Tony Caldwell Jack- son of Melbourne, Fla.; Cap tain Lewis Moore Lipscomb of Newberry; William Lee Shinn of North Augusta and Ralph Edgar Jones of Mauldin, both brothers-in-law of the bride groom. Senior groomsmen were John McHardy Davis and Hey ward Sligh Davis, both uncles of the bridegroom and both oi Columbia. Jerome Davis Jones of Mauldin, nephew of the bridegroom, was ringbearer. Mrs. Donald Woodrow Bow ers of Lancaster, cousin of the bride, was matron of honor and Miss Donna Kay McCorkle of Charlotte and Darlington, for mer college roommate of the bride was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Ralph Edgar Jones of Mauldin, Mrs William Lee Shinn of “North Augusta, and Miss Linda Cath erine Davis of Newberry, all sisters of the bridegroom; Mrs. William Freeman Monts III, sister-in-law of the bride; and Mrs. David Eugene Brown, Jr., of Camden. Miss Mary Lynn Castles, cousin of the bride,, was a junior bridesmaid. They wore identical floor- length empire sheath gowns of cranberry saki, designed with watteau trains of pink eleg ance carnations and California ivy. They wore forward head- pieces in matching colors that held four tiers of English illus- sion. Flower girls were Misses An gela Louise and Jane Allison cousins of the bride. Their flooi length dresses were of white peau de soie trimmed in cran Immediately following the ceremony a reception was held at the Lancaster Country Club. Guests were greeted by Mrs. William Freeman Monts, Jr., mother of the bride, Mrs. James Henry Davis, mother of the groom, and the bridal couple. Refreshments of chicken sal ad puffs, petit fours, mints cheese rings and nuts were served from tables covered with white satin overlaid with cranberry lace and featuring white satin bows. The center- piece was a five branched can delabra with white tapers and white flower arrangements of snaps, gladioli and mums. A round table draped in white satin overlaid with white lace and featuring white satin bows was centered with an electric punch fountain which contained green fruit punch. On another appointed table covered in white satin and cranberry lace was an electric punch fountain which contained wedding punch. The bridesmaids’ bouquets were us ed to bank the refreshment ta bles. The bride’s table was cov ered in white satin, draped with white lace and white satin bows and was centered with a three tiered wedding cake dec orated in green and white with sugar roses. The wedding cake was topped with a handmade and handpainted miniature bride and groom. Later for their wedding trip the bride wore a blue and white wool dress with matching coat and black accessories. Her cor sage was white cymbidium or chids taken from the bridal bouquet. Out of Town Guests Among the out of town guests were Miss Peggy Lominack, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Lominack Jr., Mr. and Mrs. James V. Clamp, Mr. and Mrs. Noble Terrell, Sharon Roberts, Mr. Sydney Seville Riggs, Miss Catherine Kennerley, Mrs. Su sie M. Stewart, Mrs. W. H. Davis, Mr and Mrs. William T. King, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Lips comb, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Poole, Mrs. Ruby Trice, Mr. and Mrs. James C Abrams, all of New berry. Dinner Party On Friday, November 14 at 7:30 p.m. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Edgar Jones Jr., Mr. and Mrs. William Lee Shinn, and Miss Linda Davis honored Miss Monts and Mr. Davis with a dinner party at 2217 Henry Avenue in Newberry. Upon arrival the hostesses presented Miss Monts with an original white corsage hand made of lace, net, and ribbon. Approximately 35 guests were on hand for the occasion. They were first invited into the sun porch for hors d’oeuvres. The dinner was served buffet style from a rectangular table cover ed with white satin overlaid with net in the dining room. Nine branched candelabra were used as a centerpiece on the table and in the living room. Miss Monts’ place was marked with a miniature bride and groom and four bridesmaids, dressed in the color Miss Monts chose for her attend ants. The hostesses’ gift tp Miss Monts and Mr. Davis was • a silver covered vegetable dish. Luncheon On Friday, November 22, Miss Monts honored her attend ants with a luncheon at the Wagon Wheel. Thirteen guests, including Mrs. William Freeman Monts, Jr., mother of the bride, and Mrs. James Henry Davis, mo ther of the groom enjoyed a three course meal. An arrange ment of white gladioli and white mums centered the table. Miss Monts presented her at tendants with engraved silver bonbon dishes. Rehearsal Party After the rehearsal for their wedding, Miss Monts and Mr. Davis were guests of honor for a rehearsal party at the Lan caster County Club hosted by the bridegroom’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Henry Davis, of Newberry. The color scheme for the evening was yellow and white. The refreshment table featured a yellow cloth overlaid with white lace. Five branched can delabra with white tapers were used as the centerpiece. Ar rangements of white and yel low flowers carried out the mo tif. Refreshments included in dividual iced cakes, mints, nuts, ham biscuits, sandwiches, fruit punch and shrimp. A second ta ble featured a silver punch fountain decked with yellow and white flowers and a tray of cucumbers c,elery, carrots and dip. Black-eye Susans, nuts and wedding punch. Approximately 55 guests in cluding members of the wed ding party and friends attend ed. M. Fraser won door prizes, do nated by Bergen’s and Mrs. 0. M. Cobb, respectively. NEW ADDRESSES Mr and Mrs. George Bodie have moved to 606 Clara St. Rev. and Mrs. Elbert L. Johnson have moved to New berry and are living at 511 O’Neal St. Rev. Johnson is pas tor of O’Neal Street Methodist church. Mr. and Mrs. Ronnie High tower have moved to 2415 High land Drive in the home they purchased from Earl Cobb. Permits Juanita D. and William 0. HORACE TURBEVILLE’S FATHER SUCCUMBS J. Clyde Turbeville, Sr., 58, of Camden, died Saturday. He was the father of Horace Tur beville of this city. Funeral services were held Sunday at First Baptist Church in Camden. NEWCOMERS HAVE CHRISTMAS PARTY The annual Christmas party was held by the members of the Newberry Newcomers club and their husbands or guests at the gaily decorated Com munity Hall Saturday evening. December 7th. The Newberry High School Girls Choir presented an en joyable program of Christmas music. Hostesses for the dinner par ty, which approximately 60 attended, were Mrs. V. W.
