The bride is the daughter of
the late Vivian Floyd Epting
and the groom, the son of Mr.
and Mrs. John Benjamin Lind

League tea be
December 6th
Newberry Civic League will
hold a Christmas Tea at the
Community Hall Friday after
noon, December 6, at 4 p.m.,
according to an announcement
from Professor F. Scott Elliott
Sr., president.
Mrs. James E. Wiseman Sr.
and Mrs. Steve C. Griffith, will
serve as co-chairmen of this
tea. Miss Juanita Hitt and
a girls chorus from Newberry
High School will present a pro
gram of Christmas music for
this occasion.
All Civic League members
and their friends are cordially
invited to attend.

in Columbia
December 1st
The second annual Governor’s
Carolighting program will a-
gain be a featured part of Car
illon week in Columbia this
year.
The Carolighting program
will be held Sunday, December
1 on the front steps of the
State House and will again fea
ture the Governor’s Christmas
Message by Governor Robert E.
McNair. The Governor will al
so light the State Christmas
tree to conclude the program.
Plans for the second Caro
lighting were announced by
Don Upton who is chairman of
the program.
Last year’s Carolighting at
tracted more than 50,000 per
sons, estimated by some to be
the largest crowd to ever gath
er at the State House.
A thousand-voice choir will
again lead in the singing of
Christmas Carols prior to the
tree-lighting ceremony. Direct
ing the choir will be Arpad
Darazs, choral director of the
University of S. C. The choir
will be made up of church choirs
and choral groups from thru-
out the Greater Columbia area.
Also appearing on the pro
gram will be the University of
South Carolina Symphonic
Band, directed by Jas. Pritch
ard, director of bands at the
University.
