Long, III of Union, left, and Robert C. Lake, Jr., of Whitmire, took their oath of office as Senators for Dis trict 5 before Mildred R. Harmon, Clerk of Court, Tuesday at noon. Although only one oath is necessary, the two senators were also sworn in at Laurens on Tuesday and at Union on Wednesday morning. (Sunphoto) Academy meet set Monday At the meeting of the parents of thme pupils in the Newberry Academy next Monday nierht, November 18 ; at seven-thirty the sixth grade, under the di rection of their home teacher, Mrs. Sylvia Gibson, will pre sent a delightful playlet, “Mark Twain Wins Again.” This is a delightful episod° and the young people do it well. After the skit there will come a business session. Mem bers of the board will present some plans for the expansion of the Academy soon to begin.
