Company Foundation Scholarship gift to Dr. A. G. D.
Wiles, president of Newberry College. A number of Ken
dall Scholars at Newberry each year receive stipends
ranging to $350, depending on need. Scholarships are
for South Carolina students, with preference going to
Newberry County applicants. Wessinger is manager of
Kendall’s cotton office in Newberry.

final rites
Voight E. Wessinger, 75, of
Leesville died Tuesday in a
Columbia Hospital.
Mr. Wessinger was born in
Newberry County, son of the
late Walter and Mary Derrick
Wessinger. He was a retired
businessman and a veteran of
World War I.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs.
Emiley Cooley Wessinger; two
sons, Dr. John Earl Wessinger
of Leesville and Prosperity and
Capt. Walter Wessinger of Co.
lurnbia; and one brother, Wil
bur E. Wessinger of Prosperity.
Funeral services were held
at 5 p.m. Wednesday in Lees-
vill Methodist Church.
Mrs. Shealy dies
in hospital
Mrs. Arie Amick Shealy, 75,
died early Wednesday morning
at the Newberry County Me
morial Hospital. Her husband
Coker Shealy died five years
ago. Mrs. Shealy was born and
reared in Lexington County and
was the daughter of the late
Andrew and Equilla Koon
Amick. She was a member of
St. Peters Pineywoods Luther
an Church, a life member of
the L. C. W. She had spent
most of her life near Lake
Murray, Route 1, Prosperity.
Mrs. Shealy is survived by
three sons, Edgar W. Shealy,
Taunton, Mass., Dewey R. Shea
ly, San Leando, Calif., Clifton
Shealy, Newberry; four daugh
ters, Mrs. Lelon Eva) Roland,
Prosperity, Mi's. Luther (Mil
dred) Nobles, Newberry, Mrs.
Edgar (Cleo) Holley, Burton,
S. C., and Mrs. Tommy (Es
telle) Boland, Little Mountain;
one brother, Jonas Amick,
Prosperity; two sisters, Mrs.
Hattie Amick, Chapin; 26 grand
children and 15 great grand
children.

ducted Thursday from St. Pe
ters Pineywoods Lutheran
Church with Rev. John Zeigler

Mrs. Sease, 93,
rites Friday
Mrs. Minnie Long Sease, 93,
widow of James A. Sease, died
Thursday afternoon at her
home after a sudden illness.
Mrs. Sease was bom in New
berry County, Tranwood Sec
tion, daughter of the late Lu
ther M. Long and Anna Cath
erine Schumpert Long. She was
a member of St. James Lu
theran Church, member of L.
C. W., and a member of the Ex
tension Homemakers Club.
She is survived by one daugh
ter, Mrs. Cyril (Margaret) Half
acre of Newberry; one brother
L. Edger Long of Newberry;
and one sister, Mrs. M?ry L.
Shealy of Newberry; one grand
child, Mrs. Hugh Robert (Jan
ice) Graham of Charleston.
Funeral services were con
ducted at 4 p.m. Friday at the
Whitaker Funeral Home by the
Rev. Paul Hatch. Interment
was in Rosemont cemetery.
