James L. “Monce” Long, 68,
died Monday at a local nursing
home.
He was a native of Newberry
county, a son of the late J. A.
and Annie Mills Long. He was
a retired employee of Newberry
Mills and a member of Queen's
Chapel Presbyterian church.
Surviving are three sons, J.
L. Long Jr., of Rock Hill; Alvin
Long of West New York, N. J.
and Roy Long of Newberry;
two daughters, Mrs. Bertha
Harmon of Newberry and Mrs.
Annie Davenport of Gaffney;
four brothers, Jack, Ben and
Arthur Long of Newberry and
John Long of Leesville.
Funeral services were held
Wednesday at Whitaker Fun
eral home by Rev. Neil Trues-
dell and Rev. Vivian Pressley.
Burial was in Rosemont ceme
tery.
Steve Fulmer
dies at age 15
Steve Randy Fulmer, 15,
died Thursday night at the
Newberry County Memorial
hospital after an illness of 3
months.
He was born and reared in
the Macedonia section of the
county and was the son of
Mr. and Mrs. Furman Fulmer.
He was a student of Mid-Caro
lina High school and was an ac
tive member of the Mid-Caro
lina Band; a member of Mace
donia Lutheran church, and
took an active part in all school
and church activities.
He is survived by* his par
ents, Furman and Mary Frick
Fulmer, Prosperity; his ma
ternal grandmother, Mrs. Les
ter Frick, Chapin; one broth
er, Furman Fulmer, Columbia;
five sisters, Mrs. Frances Gar
ner, Belvedere; Mrs. George
Oxner, Newberry^ Mrs. George
Metts, West Columbia; Mrs.
Freddie Cain, West Columbia;
Mrs. Ellis Cannon, Chapin;
and a number of other rela
tives in zne county.
Funeral services were held
Saturday from his church with
Rev. Fletcher Rice conducting
the service. Interment was in
the church cemetery.

Monday at a Greenwood hospi
tal.
She was a native of Newber
ry county, daughter of the late
Burr and Lucinda Schumpert
Werts. She was a member of
Little-River Dominick Presby
terian church.
Surviving are two sons, W.
C. Wallenzine of Clinton, and
Ira J. Wallenzine of Joanna;
four daughters, Mrs. Fred
Bragg and Mrs. Lily Miller
of Joanna and Mrs. M. L.
Moates and Mrs. W. Meadows
Minick of Kinards.
Funeral services were held
Wednesday from her church,
conducted by Rev. Leon Jef
fords. Burial was in the church
cemetery.
Mrs. Long dies
at rest home
Mrs. Beatrice Fulmer Long,
85, died Saturday afternoon at
Rikard’s Rest Home after a
long illness. A native of Lex
ington county, she was the
daughter of the late W. W.
and Cedecia Fulmer. She was
a member of St. James Luth
eran church and the last sur
viving member of her immed
iate family.
Surviving is a daughter, Mrs.
B. T. Mills of Newberry; a son,
Ernest T. Long Jr.,ofNewberry;
13 grandchildren and 37 great
grandchildren.
Funeral services were held
Monday from her church with
Rev. Paul Hatch conducting
the service. Burial was in the
church cemetery.
Mrs. Reames
dies Tuesday County native
dies in N. C.
Mrs. Carrie Alman Reames,
84, widow of Edwin Reames,
died Tuesday at her home on
Old Whitmire highway.
She was a native of Union
county, daughter of the late
J. F. and Julie Garner Alman.
She was a school teacher and
was a member of Beth Eden
Lutheran church.
Surviving are a son, William
A. Reames of Greensboro, N.
C.;, three daughters, Mrs. Lam
bert Riser of Newberry, Mrs.
John Brown of Fayetteville, N.
C., and Mrs. J. C. Dixon, of

dies at age 78

Gastonia, N. C. died late
Thursday night at an Ashe
ville, N. C. hospital after a
lingering illness.
Mr. Taylor was born in this
county, son of the late John F.
and Alma White Taylor. He
was a retired Railroad Postal
Clerk and was a member of
St. John Methodist church of
Gastonia.
He is survived by his wife,
Mrs. Maude Abrams Taylor of
Gastonia; one son, Jackson W.
Taylor, Jr., of Gastonia; one
brother, John F. Taylor, of
Pinehurst, N. C.; three sisters,
Mrs. H. W. Earhardt, of Pine
hurst; Mrs. Allen Watson of
Columbia and Mrs. Arthur Bor
ing of Plant City, Fla.

M. W. Wallace
dies suddenly
Millard Wiley Wallace, 54,
of Rt. 1, Newberry, died sud
denly Saturday morning.
A native of Damascus, Va.,
he was a son of the late John
H. and Minnie T. Wallace. He
had made his home in Newber
ry for the past 30 years, and
was employed by Newberry
Mills. He was a deacon at West
End Baptist church and Sun
day School superintendent.
Surviving is his wife, Bea
trice Kibler Wallace; a daugh
ter, Mrs. Richard Merritt, of
Cayce; three sisters, Mrs. Ber-
ley Humphrey, Joanna; Mrs.
Vernon Gault, Gaffney, Mrs.
Agnew Roach, Greer.
Funeral services were held
Sunday from his church with
Rev. Ralph Rhyne and Rev.
Paul Bullington conducting the
service. Burial was in Newber
ry Memorial Gardens.

and Mrs. Romans of Columbus, Ohio.
Mr. and Mrs. Barron also have two sons, Zack who is
serving with the Army at Fort Leonardwood, Mo., and

Second Reading will be held at Council Meet
ing, October 15, 1968 beginning at 7:30 P. M. in
Council Room, City Hall on the following amend
ments to Ordinances of the City of Newberry, S.
C.:
1. A Proposal which would Re-Zone an area on
Vincent Street from Exclusive Manufacturing
(M-l) to a General Business (B-3) District.
2. An Amendment to the Electrical Code of the
City of Newberry, S. C.—Article II (Section 4)
3. An Ordinance to provide for the surfacing of
Boyd Street, with abutting property owners prop
erty owners sharing one-half the cost.
