The birds raised by Robert Ringer of Route 2, Pomaria,
were judged tops at the annual 4-H poultry sale held Sat
urday at Newberry County fairgrounds, and sold for
$5.00 each. Robert is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Edron Rin
ger. Admiring the birds with Robert are, from left, Ollie

bought the poultry and the judge, John Welter, area

Sept 13—Marine Private First
Class Carl O. Taylor Jr., 18, son
of Mr. and Mrs. Carl O. Taylor
of 700 Pope St. is serving with
the First Marine Division in
South Vietnam.
As a member of the division
he helps capture or destroy
enemy forces. During large and
small scale operations he is sup
ported by Marine air units,
tanks, artillery, amphibian trac
tors and engineers.
His unit is also engaged in
a civic action program designed
to assist the Vietnamese peo
ple in completing self-help pro
jects, such as the building of
wells, culverts, small bridges
and schools. Equipment and ma
terials are made available
through the Marine Corps Re
serve Civic Action Fund.
