Among the Grand Prix's host
of innovations in addition to the
concealed radio antenna are an
electrically heated rear window
defogger, a driver’s command
seat completely enclosed in en
ergy-absorbing material for op
timum protection and the long
est hood in the history.
A special custom option, cal
led the Grand Prix Model SJ
will be available. It consists of
the 428 cubic-inch large valve
control, power disc front brakes,
special instrument panel gauges,
lamp group, Polyglas tires and
special high-performance sus
pension.
“The 1969 Grand Prix is to
tally new in image, concept and
level of luxury,” said Mr. De-
Lorean. “It is the blue chip in
the specific body sports car
field.”
The Grand Prix front end
styling is distinguished by a
wrap-around bumper, individ
ually mounted headlamps and
new large parking lamps at the
front of the fenders which also
serve as side marker lamps.
A unique recessed fine-line
grille adds to the overall bold
appearance.
From the side view, the
Grand Prix roof line is as ev
ident and attractive as the long
hood. Large sail areas provide
limousine-type privacy for rear
seat passengers.
INTERMEDIATES
The 1969 intermediates from
Pontiac Motor Division blend
big car styling with exact en
gineering and safety.
The entire line-up of Tem
pest, Custom S, Le Mans and
GTO models reveals a new ver
tical theme front end appear
ance, newly designed instrument
panels and the absence of vent
windows on hardtop coupes and
convertibles.
In addition, there is a new
two-way tailgate for station
wagons, an ignition-steering
gearshift lock, two Ram Air
options for GTO customers and
the three speed Turbo Hydra-
matic has been made available
on all models.
“These new models are styled
and engineered to further ac
celerate the surge which is car
rying them to • new sales re
cords. ” DeLorean said.
Fifteen Pontiac intermediate
models are offered in four se
ries.
The new Pontiac look is most
apparent from the front where
the finely compartmented grille
design is deeply recessed inside
the chrome bumper. The GTO
continues with its exclusive En-
dura energy-absorbing front
bumper. Twin horizontal head
lamps are placed at the extreme
ends of the peripheral bumper.
The line has individual park
ing side marker lamps for 1969.
The parking lamps are below
the bumper on all models except
the GTO where newly designed
lamps are set in the outer ends
of the valance panel.

the lower side of the front fen

Both the 1969 Pontiac Firebird and the LeMans models combine sports car de
sign and big car luxury. The Firebird, represented above by the hardtop coupe, is
also available in a convertible model. A choice of five engines and now a three-
speed Turbo Hydra-matic transmission option make the Firebird one of America's
most popular sports cars. The LeMans convertible, along with the two-door sports
coupe, two-door hardtop coupe, four-door hardtop and station wagon feature new
interior fabrics and colors, draft free ventilation and additional padding for safe
