Academy opens
September 3rd
President James C. Kinard
of The Newberry Academy an
nounces that the term will be
gin on Tuesday, September 3rd,
at 8:30 a.m. He reports that
the applications already accept
ed exceed the enrollment of last
year by more than forty per
cent.
Every afternoon from five
o’clock on into the late night
hours groups of parents and
other friends are in the building
with paintbrushes and carpen
ter’s tools. The classrooms are
being made more attractive.
Much work is planned for the
grounds to provide additional
recreational facilities. The ex
terior of the building will be
given a face lifting.
In the kindergarten two ad
ditional rooms are being renov
ated to accommodate the high
er attendance there next year.
Dr. Kinard voices his appre
ciation of the enthusiastic team
work and he believes this will
result in a finer type of instruc
tion for the students.
Men do less than they ougnt,
unless to do all that they can.
—Carlyle.
You can’t hold a man down
without staying down with
him.—Booker T. Washington.
