Some vacancies
at Academy
Reports from The Newberry
Academy indicate that the
school is approaching a capac
ity enrollment for next session.
President Kinard states that
there are still some vacancies
in all grades but that additional
applications should reach him
within the next few days.
During July and August the
office is open Mondays through
Fridays from 9:30 to 12:00 and
from 2:30 to 5:00 o’clock.
Witness group
to convene
The Newberry Missionary
Group of Jehovah’s Witnesses
has been invited to attend the
“Good News for All Nations”
district convention to be held
in Greenville, at the Greenville
Memorial Auditorium August
1-4.
E. Stewart, presiding mini
ster of the local group, said that
this gathering will include Wit
nesses from many states and
hundreds will be in attendance.
“It will enable Jehovah’s Wit
nesses to advance to greater
Christian maturity and improve
their knowledge and ability to
preach. With so much unrest
among peoples, racial riots, war
threats and increase of crime,
we feel the need as Jehovah’s
Witnesses, to spread a message
of peace and unity which this
assembly will better equip us
to do as a service to this comun-
ity and the world.”
The program will have among
other features, ordination ser
vices for new ministers of Je
hovah’s Witnesses, followed by
mass baptism. This new mem
bers will then take up mission
ary service when returning to
their home congregations.
Stewart pointed out that fam
ilies from Newberry have ac
cepted the invitation and wfil
be in attendance with children
sharing with other families in
convention activities.
Stewart feels that his fam
ily’s attendance at this conven
tion would not only accent their
present peace. of mind but en
able them to share this Bible
information with others in the
community more effectively
when they return.
CARD OF THANKS
We would like to take this
means of expressing our heart
felt gratitude for the visits,
cards, and many kindnesses
shown our mother during her
long illness. Also, the flowers,
food, cards, and other express
ions of sympathy received dur
ing our hours of trial have
meant far more to us than
words can express.
To. Dr. Mills and Dr. Baker,
Rev. Long and Rev. Eargle, her
nurses, and the staff of the
Newberry County Memorial
Hospital go our special thanks
for their loving and untiring
services.
