A “ Queen-For-A-Day ” con
test provided a unique manner
of presenting Miss Senn with
many useful and lovely gifts,
among which were a bun warm
er and a cookie jar from the
hostesses.
Mrs. E. 0. Shealy and Mrs.
Robert A. Johnson honored
Miss Senn with a kitchen
shower on Saturday, June 1,
at the home of Mrs. Shealy
on Airport Road.
The bride-to-be was present
ed a white carnation corsage.
The Shealy home was at
tractively decorated with love
ly floral arrangements.
After the playing of ,Bride”
and a contest, the hostesses
served a delicious salad plate
with lime sherbet punch.
Miss Senn was the recipient
of many lovely and useful gifts,
gifts.

Miss Smith completed her
sophomore year at Presbyter
ian College, presently attend-

continue her education in At
lanta. During her freshman
year she was a member and
soloist in the P. C. choir, and
was featured as one of the
finalists for “Miss PacSac.”
she was 1965 Queen of hearts
of Newberry, 1966 First Run
ner-Up Miss Newberry, and
placed first Runner-Up in the
Miss Clinton contest in 1967.
Mr. Hampshire, son of Mr.
and Mrs. 0. M. Hampshire, of
Atlanta, graduated in May,
1968 from Presbyterian Col
lege, Clinton with a B.S. de
gree in business administra
tion. He received the Senior
Athletic award, was co-captain
of the football team, member
and officer of the Pi Kappa
Alpha fraternity and active in
the Christian Athletes. He is
now associated with the Em
ployers’ Group of Insurance
Companies of Atlanta as an
adjustor.
A late August wedding is
planned in Aveleigh Presbyter
ian church, Newberry.
To participate
in Greenwood
festival
Miss Paula Richardson, dau
ghter of Mr. and Mrs. L. A.
Richardson of 1302 Hunt street,
will be among the contestants
vying for the title, “Princess
of Flowers” during the first
Festival of Flowers in Green
wood, July 24-27.
Miss Richardson is sponsored
by the Council of Newberry
Garden Clubs.
Winner of the “Princess” ti
tle will be offered a $300
scholarship to Lander College
and will receive a trophy and
gifts. She will make her first
official appearance on Satur
day, July 27 for the Floral
Centennial at Park Seed Co.,
whose field trial gardens are
expected to attract 6000 from
all over the east coast.
She will also represent the
S. C. Festival of Flowers at
other pageants in the Palmetto
state. ,
Newberry College. He was
accompanied by Mrs. Weber.
An estimated 20,000 Kiwanians
and guests were at the conven
tion session in Maple Leaf
Gardens.

ed with a seated tea honoring
Miss Senn Thursday afternoon,
June 6, at the home of Mrs.
Lightsey on Wendover Road,
Greenwood.
Mrs. Lightsey greeted the
guests at the dor.
Upon arrival the bride-elect
was presented a lovely corsage
of pink rosebud*.
The spacious Lightsey home
was thrown ensuite and was
beautifully decorated with flo
ral arrangements.
Delightful refreshments were
served buffet style, with Mrs. J.
E. Smith pouring punch. As
sisting in serving were Mrs. I.
M. Smith and Mrs. C. T. Smith.
The hostesses presented the
honoree with her wedding in
vitation in decoupage and a
Bride’s Wedding Book.
Thirty-five guests enjoyed
the occasion.
On Friday evening, June 7,

ing Miss Senn.
Upon arrival, Miss Senn was

carnations.
Mrs. George W. Martin greet

which consisted of Miss Senn,
Mrs. W. E. Senn, mother of the
bride-elect, and two grandmoth
ers, Mrs J. R. Bedenbaugh, Sr.,

Mrs. Parker Martin invited
the guests into the dining room
for delicious refreshments. Miss
Louise Senn poured from a sil
ver punch bowl.

honoree with a bread and but

for Miss Senn with a miscel
laneous shower at her home on
Ellisin Road, Columbia.
The honoree was presented
with a corsage of cymbidium
orchids in pale pink tones upon
arrival.
After several games, guests
were invited into the dining
room for delightful refresh
ments.
A beautifully decorated par
asol covering many lovely
packages for Miss Senn was
brought in by Miss Watson.
The hostess presented the
honoree a dinner plate and cup
and saucer in her chosen din-
nerware pattern.
The host and hostesses pre

T. Werts at the home of Mrs.
Danielson on Bush River Road
on Saturday, June 8.
Favors of wedding rings tied
with yellow ribbon were pinned
on guests as they arrived, and
the honoree was given a yellow
glamellia corsage.
Guests were asked during the
evening to monogram theix
names on a lovely hand-made
yellow apron, after which the
apron was given to the bride-
elect.

Miss Senn and laden with gifts
for her.
