PAGE 4—The Newberry Sun, Newberry, S. C., Thursday, July 4, 1968 Many parties honor bride of June 23 Prior to her wedding on June 23, M iss Cheryl Ann Hawkins was extensively entertained. On May 8, Miss Janice Whit aker, Miss Mary Williams, Mrs. Ralph Whitaker and Mrs. Ralph Williams had a lovely bridge party for Miss Hawkins at the Whitaker home, Nance street. A white carnation cor sage was presented to the bride. Three tables of bridge, and de licious refreshments were ser ved after the card games. The hostesses presented the honoree with a lovely glass candy dish. On May 16 Mrs. Pearce Dav is and Mrs. Parker Martin gave a lingerie shower at the home of Mrs. Martin. Eighteen guests attended and the bride received many beautiful and useful gifts. The hostesses in vited the guests into the lovely dining room where delicious re freshments were served buffet style. On May 17 Miss Hawkins and Mr. Matkivich were entertained at a dinner party at the home of Rev. and Mrs. Harry Weber. Four couples enioyed a deli cious spaghetti supper. The host and hostess presented the couple with a beautiful silver bowl. On May 18 Mr. and Mrs. Robert Johnson gave a barbe- que supper at the home of Mrs. Johnson’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Olin Shealy. The supper was held in the cabin on the pond near the Shealy’s house. Five couples enjoyed this de licious supper. The host and hostess presented Miss Haw kins and Mr. Matkovich with a big barbeque grill, “His and Hers” aprons, and utinsels to use while grilling. On June 1 the brides cousins, Mr. and Mrs. Wylie Stevenson, entertained with a dinner par ty in Laurens. After an en joyable evening the host and hostess presented the honorees with a silver bowl. On June 10 Miss Phyllis Ed dy entertained at a kitchen shower for Miss Hawkins. A carnation corsage was present ed to the honoree upon her arrival. The hostess and her mother served delicious re freshments and then the gifts were opened. The bride receiv ed many useful gifts. The hos tess gave her a beautiful soup taureen that she had made.
