COLLEGE FORMS
ALUMNI GROUP
DENMARK.—Rapid advances
are being made in the develop
ment of a more extensive
alumni association for Voor-
hees. College, it was revealed
here by President John F.
Potts. Various projects are
currently underway to locate
all former students and to es
tablish closer ties between the
College and various alumni
groups.
Indicative of the new thrust,
three new alumni chapters
have been added during the
past ten months. The most re
cently established group at
Newberry is headed by the
Reverend E. E. Gaulden, * in
structor at Holden Chapel
School in Spartanburg county.
A resident of Newberry, the
Reverend Mr. Gaulden has
been active in support of the
College since he received his
degree in 1927. Other officers
of the Newberry Chapter in
clude: Vice President, Miss
Pauline Fowler, agent with
North Carolina Mutual Life
Insurance Company; Secretary,
Miss Arrie Dewalt, instructor
at Drayton Street Elementary
School; Treasurer, Mrs. Wil-
helmina Coleman, instructor at
Gallman High school.

Word has been received from
Congressman Bryan Dorn that
a contract has been awarded
for construction of a building
to house a postoffice in Pros
perity. Mr. Dorn stated that
the estimated completion date
is February 1, 1969.

Virgil Dominck
Virgil E. Dominick, Newber
ry county native, died Friday
in Colorado Springs, Col., after
several years of declining
health. He was the son of the
late Elliott Snowden and Min
nie Epting Dominick and was
reared in the Chappells com
munity.
Surviving are his widow,
Mrs. Iva Mae Hannah Domi
nick; two daughters, Mrs. Dav
id Steel, Berger, Texas, and
Mrs. John Nikkei, Midland,
Texas.
Also surviving are three sis
ters, Mrs. W. L. Frazier, Mrs.
Y. T. Dickert of Newberry and
Mrs. Ray Chiles, Greenville;
three brothers, J. Snowden,
Rock Hill, Guy W. Dominick,
Cayce and Hugh A. Dominick,
Newberry.
He attended Chappells school
and was a graduate of Bailey
Military Institute, a member
of the First Southern Baptist
Church of Colorado Springs, a
Mason and a retired engineer
of the Canadian River Gas Co.
Funeral services were held
Monday in Colorado Springs
with burial in Evergreen cem
etery.

GREENWOOD — Boyce P.
Willingham, 63, of Abbeville
Highway, died Sunday at a
local hospital.
He was born in this county,
son of the late Andrew and
Cornelia Adams Willingham,
and was a member of Jordan
Street Baptist church. He lived
in Greenwood since 1923 and
owned Willingham’s Grocery.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs.
Pauline Corley Willingham;
two daughters, Mrs. William
Culbertson and Mrs. Doug Gil-
reath of Greenwood; a son,
Robert A. Willingham, Green
wood; three brothres, Ambrose,
Horten and William Willing
ham of Newberry; two sisters,
Mrs. Nettie Danielson and
Mrs. Martha Lever of New
berry.
Funeral services were held
Tuesday conducted by the Rev.
Joseph Ouzts and Rev. Rembert
Truluck. Burial was in Edge-
wood cemetery.
Mrs. Pappas, 79,
rites Monday
Mrs. Annie Mae Guin Pap
pas, 79, died Saturday in Col
umbia after a lingering illness.
Mrs. Pappas was born in
this county, the daughter of
the late Brooks and Eliza Britt
Guin. She was a member of
the First Baptist church.
Mrs. Pappas was twice mar
ried, her first husband being
the late Arthur C. Mills and
the second, the late John Pap
pas, Newberry restaurant own
er.
She is survived by three son*
Arthur W. Mills of Green
wood, James E. Mills, Wash
ington, D. C. and Brooks Mar
tin Mills of Clinton; three
daughters, Mrs. Jesse Wooten
of Blythe wood, Mrs. Neal Mc-
Carber of Gastonia, N. C. and
Mrs. Edward Kinard of St.
Helens, Oregon; four brothers,
Jesse Guin and Lindsay Guin,
both of Newberry, Brooks Guin
of Rockford, 111 and William
G. Guin of Cincinnati, Ohio.
Funeral services were con
ducted Monday at Whitaker
Funeral Home by Rev. Ander
son Bass. Interment was in
Baxter cemetery.
