C., Thursday, June 27, 1968—PAGE 7 '■ml E :V,-' U ' #• I a Miss Cheryl Ann Hawkins, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Miles Chester Hawkins, Sr., and Mr. John Matkovich, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Matkovich of Beau fort, were married on the twen ty-third of June at half past seven at the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer. The Rev. Har ry Weber officiated at the doub- It ring ceremony. Nuptial music was rendered by Prof. Darr Wise, organist, and Charles Dukes, who sang “0 Perfect Love” and “Entreat Me Not to Leave Thee”. The bride, given in marriage by her father- wore an A-line gown of silk organza and nylon dotted swiss over white satin with an empire waistline. Matron of honor was Mrs. William Young of Bluffton, sister of the groom. She wore a long aqua A-line dress of dot ted swiss. The sleeveless gown feautred a scooped neckline. Misss Harriet H. Clary and Phyllis Eddy, and Mrs. Lawmce A. Kirkland III of Newberry, and Mrs. Robert Allen Johnson of Charleston were bridesmaids. Their dresses were the same as the matron of honor. Flower girls were Misses Wendy and Julie Young of Bluffton, nieces of the groom. There dresses were similar to those of the other attendants. Mr. William Young of Bluff ton, brother-in-law of the groom, served as best man. Mr. Miles Chester, Mr. James R. Murry, Mr. Lawrence Alexan der Kirkland III and Mr. Rob ert J. Floyd, Jr. were grooms men. Ringbearer was William Young, Jr. of Bluffton, nephew of the groom. The bride’s mother chose for the wedding a long dark green chiffon dress. She wore a pur ple orchid corsage. The mother of the groom wore a long pink brocade dress with an orchid corsage. A reception followed in the church social hall. Mrs. James R. The bride changed to a coral A-line dress with matching coral and white coat for a wedding trip to Florida, after which the couple will reside on Lady’s Is land. The bride is a graduate of Newberry High School and gra duated from Newberry College June 2, 1968. The groom grad uated from Beaufort High School and attended the Uni versity of South Carolina. He is employed by Beaufort Sign Company. Rehearsal Party Prior to the rehearsal on Sat urday night, June 22- Mr. and Mrs. John Matkovich, parents of the groom, entertained the wed ding party and out-of-town guests at a dinner at Newberry Inn.
