C., Thursday, June 20, 1968 On Saturday, June 15 at eight o’clock in Aveleigh Presbyterian Church, Susan Elizabeth Fra zier, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Rhett Frazier, and Den nis Woodrow Newton, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Wood- row Newton, exchanged wed ding vows. The double ring ceremony was performed by Dr. Neil E. Truesdell. The altar was centered with a sunburst arrangement of white snapdragons, white stock, white gladioli and pom-pom chrysanthemums. Backing this was a tall fan-shaped arrang ement of fern, which formed a setting for the kneeling bench. Spiraling candelabra with white tapers were placed on either side of the choir rails, while inside the rails other candelabra were inter spersed with palms. The fam ily pews were marked with brass hurricane lamps, trimm ed with white satin bows and fern. Before the ceremony, Miss Elizabeth Fowler, organist, played Toccata in D Minor, In Dir 1st Fruede, Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring, Adagio, Ari oso. The wedding party entered as the organist played Riga- udon and Trumpet Voluntary. Psalm 19 was used as the re cessional. Mrs. Gerald P. John son sang My Heart Ever Faithful, Love Never Faileth, and after the vows, The Lard’s Prayer. The radiant bride, escorted by her father, was lovely in a gown of white imported silk organza over bridal satin. It was fashioned with an empire waistline and belled skirt from which the chapel train was in serted. The sleeves were also bell-shaped, elbow’ length. The skirt, train and sleeves w T ere outlined with border of hand clipped, hand appliqued silk Chantilly lace. The scooped neckline and bodice were heav ily appliqued in the hand clip ped lace. The bride’s veil was made of a double layer of silk illusion which fell from a tier chapel train. She wore pearl crystal crown to the end of the earrings, a gift of the groom, and carried a bouquet of Phael- nanoplis orchids showered with delicate sprays of Encedium or chids. Mrs. John Rhett Frazier, Jr., the bride’s sister-in-law, was matron of honor. She wore a dress of white imported geor gette over taffeta with Cluny lace trim. The dress was fash ioned with an empire waistline semi-belled shirt that was cut away in front and dipped in the back, encircled in the lace. The neckline was trimmed in lace and the waistline was accented with an aqua satin fold ending in a tailored bow at the side front. She wore matching slip pers. Her headpiece was a bow of aqua satin from which feil a knee length white veil. She carried a nosegay of delephin- iums, sweetheart roses, daisies and mums in pastel colors. The other attendants were similarily attired. Miss Elizabeth Ann Fryga, cousin of the bride, was maid of honor. The bridesmaids were Mrs. Kenneth Wayne Mixon, and Miss Ann Florine Frazier of Winnsboro, cousins of the bride; Miss Frances Ann New ton, Miss Terri Kay Newton, sisters of the groom. Miss Pa tricia Ann Milo of Greensboro, N. C. and Miss Patricia Ann Underwood of Newberry. The groom’s father served as best man. Senior ushers were Mr. Pope Duncan Johnson, Jr., Mr. James Ralph Blackwell of Spartanburg, uncle of the groom, and Mr. Frank Carroll Warr of Augusta, Ga. uncle of the bride; Mr. John B. Lind say. Also Ushering were Jack L. Green of Duncan, Toombs D. Lewis, Columbia, Richard New ton of Hartsville, Waylon Wil son, Clemson, Jay Dee Hair, Newark, Del., Pope Duncan Johnson III, Gordon Blackwell Johnson, cousins of the groom, and John Rhett Frazier, Jr., brother of the bride. Kennerly Clamp, cousin of the bride, son of Mr. and Mrs. O’Neal Clamp of Allendale was ring bearer. The bride’s mother wore a gown of yellow chiffon with a rolled collar and butte rfly sleeves. She wore matching slippers and a corsage of Ren- anphera orchids. The bridegroom’s mother wore a gown of avocado chiffon feat uring a beaded neckline with empire waist and matching slip pers. Her corsage was Epiden- drum Marie orchids. The bride’s grandmother, Mrs. Clarence Mitchell of John ston wore a blue lace dress with matching slippers and a white orchid corsage. The groom’s grandmother, Mrs. Gordon Blackwell, wore a dress of blue lace over mauve taffeta and a white orchid cor sage. The reception, following the ceremony, was held in the gar den of the bride’s parents. Mr. and Mrs. Herschel A. Kemper greeted the guests at the walk way which was outlined with lighted hurricane lamps. Mr. and Mrs. William H. Carter re ceived at the side garden ent rance, and Mr. and Mrs. John Lindsay introduced guests to the receiving line. Mr. and Mrs. Pelham Dennis invited the guests to the buffet tables which were placed under a flo ral canopy. The lovely buffei table was covered in white lin en, scalloped with fernery and centered with a large figurine holding an arrangement of pink and yellow snapdragons, yellow roses, white daisies, pink carna tions and delphiniums. Two smaller figurines held similar arrangements on the table and at intervals silver candelabra with mint green tapers were placed. Misses Karen Kirkegard, Ellie Felker, Janice Whitaker, and Mary Williams assisted in serving. The coffee and punch tables were decorated as the buffet table. Mrs. F. Carroll Warr and Mrs. O’Neal Clamp poured at the coffee table. Mrs. Duncan Johnson Jr. and Mrs. Jack Grainger presided over punch bowl under the canopy. Mrs. William Vermillion and Mrs. Edward Prater presided at the punch table in the side garden. The bride’s table was covered with a beautiful imported deli cate mint green embroidered eyelet organza cloth and was centered with a 3-tiered wed ding cake embossed with white orchids and lilies of the valley. Double net ruffles of mint green encircled the base of the cake, which was placed on a large reflector. Silver candel abra holding mint green light ed tapers were placed on either side of the cake. Behind the table was an arched candelabra decorated with fern holding green tapers. Dr. and Mrs. James Under wood invited guests to the reg ister and on in to the home to view the gifts. Mrs. Westley L. Johnson of Anderson presided at the reg ister on the terrace, where a string trio played. Mrs. Phillip Brooks received in the gift room. Mr. and Mrs. Marion Fra zier bade the guests goodbye. For a honeymoon to Sea Is land, the bride wore a white linen dress with navy acces sories and a white orchid cor sage lifted from her bouquet. The couple will make their home in Newberry until Sep tember, then they will be re siding in Atlanta where the groom is a dental student. REHEARSAL PARTY After the rehearsal on Friday evening, Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Newton, Mrs. Gordon Blackwell, Mr. and Mrs. Duncan Johnson, Jr., Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Black- well entertained at the Newton home with a buffet dinner for the wedding party and out of town guests. The buffet table was beautiful with an all white arrangement of glads and chry santhemums in a silver epergne. White lighted tapers in silver candelabra were used on either side of the arrangement. On the individual tables, arrange ments of pink hydrangea were used. After the dinner, the groom presented gifts to his ushers. BRIDESMAIDS LUNCHEON On Saturday morning at the Newberry Inn, Mrs. John C. Blackburn, Mrs. Michael Fryga and Miss Elizabeth Ann Fryga entertained with a bridesmaid luncheon. The table was beau tifully decorated with a drap ing of light green illusion and was centered with an arrange ment of Queen Ann lace, white daisies and yellow daylilies in a crystal bowl. Crystal bird figurines were used on either corner. Covers were laid for 16. After the delicious lunch. Miss Frazier presented gifts to her attendants. Pre-Nuptial Parties On May 24, Mr. and Mrs. James F. Coggins entertained with a buffet supper for Miss Frazier and Mr. Newton at their home on Circle Drive.
