TO THE VOTERS OF
NEWBERRY COUNTY:
On Tuesday, June 11th, you will have the opportunity to name the Sher
iff of our county for the next four years. This is the most important of
fice in our county. On the Sheriff depends very much the protection of
the lives, the liberties and the property of our people.
I offer you my services. I was born and reared in Newberry County
and have lived here all my life except for three years when I was in the
United States Army during World War II. During this period I was
overseas for one and one-half years.
I have served as a deputy sheriff for seven years and I have the prac
tical experience necessary to the efficient performance of the duties of
Sheriff. I have attended numerous schools of various phases of law en
forcement which have been conducted by the South Carolina Law Enforce
ment Division and the FBI.
As deputy sheriff for seven years I have become well acquainted with
the duties of the office and the laws which are to be enforced. I have al
ways tried to discharge the duties of my office in a fearless, faithful and
impartial manner. I have always sought to be courteous in performing my
duties and ready to answer any call to duty, day or night, as promptly as
humanly possible. That I will continue to do if you elect me your Sheriff.
My experience should count heavily in seeing that the business of the
Sheriff’s office and especially the work of the criminal court is so con
ducted as to save unnecessary and useless expense to the taxpayers. It
shall be my aim to save our people as much money as possible.
I believe in the strict enforcement of law and order with justice and
mercy for all. I offer for the office of Sheriff because I believe I am quali
fied to give efficient service. Your votes will be deeply appreciated and I
shall make every effort to merit your confidence by the faithful perform
ance of my duties so that all of you may have every reason to be proud that
I am the Sheriff of Newberry County.
Sincerely yours,
CHARLES E. SENN
