JAMES E. WISEMAN JR. College signs Wade Nichols Wade Nichols, a football standout at Newberry High school, has signed a Newberry College grant-in-aid, Indian Coach Fred Herren announced Wednesday. Nichols, a tight end and line backer, lettered two years at Newberry High and last season was voted the Bulldogs’ most valuable player. He was an all- conference AA defenseman. Nichols is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Nichols of Silverstreet. A student leader as well as an athlete, he is president of the senior class at Newberry High. He also* is a member of Blue Key Honor Society, president of the In ternational Relations Club, and a member of the student coun cil executive board. “We’re extremely happy to have Wade at Newberry Col lege,” Coach Herren said. LAW OFFICERS SPONSOR DANCE The Newberry County Law Enforcement Association . will sponsor a dance at the New berry Armory on Saturday, May 11 from 8:00 p.m. until midnight, according to the Association president, Chief Colie Dowd. The public is in vited. A nominal admission fee will be charged. INDIAN CLUB Program plans are being completed for the annual Ind ian Club Banquet to be held at Newberry College on Wednes day, May 8, according to Billy Beard, president. The banquet will take place in the college dining hall at 7:30 p.m. Trophies and certi ficates will be awarded to New berry College athletes in foot ball, basketball and baseball.
