Announces for
GOP ticket
H. Grady Ballard of Easley
has announced his intention of
seeking the Republican nomi
nation to run for the U. S.
House of Representatives from
the third congressional district.
In making the announcement
Mr. Ballard stated:
“I was born on an Anderson
county farm at Route 1, Pel-
zer, April 21, 1921. I graduated
from White Plains High
school in 1938. I graduated
from Clemson College in 1942
with a B.S. degree in Mechan
ical Engineering. I served four
years in the U. S. Army Air
Force during World War II,
including 16 months in the Pac
ific Theatre in New Guinea
and the Phillipine Islands. I
was discharged in 1946 with
the rank of Captain.
“On July 3, 1943, I was mar
ried to the former Mary Ruth
Davenport, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Furman B. Davenport,
who still reside at 501 N. Fant
street, Anderson. We are now
the proud parents of 8 children.
“During the 1946-47 school
year I was an instructor in the
Mechanical Engineering Dep
artment, school of Engineering
at Clemson University.
