PAGE 4—The Newberry Sun, Newberry, S. C., Thursday, Feb. 15, 1968 in Holland Hall at 7:30 Tues day evening, February 20, and the course will begin the fol lowing Tuesday, February 27. The first session of this course of February 27 will be taught by Mr. Marvin and will last two hours, from 7:30 p. m. to 9:30 p.m. His lecture will be open to the public at a fee of $3, payable at the door. Those who have registered for the whole course and have paid their fee in advance, will not be charged extra. Mr. Marvin’s work is not un known to the citizens of New berry. He is the landscape ar chitect who was asked not long ago to beautify the square be hind Community Hall, which ever since has delighted many people with its lavash show of color not only in the spring but at various other seasons of the year. Mr. Marvin is a dedicated and experienced South Carolina landscape architect, who has twice won the National Indus trial and Institutional Land scaping award. He was gradua ted from Clemson college in 1942, and did graduate work in landscape design at the Uni versity of Georgia. He has had his own landscape design office in Walterboro since 1947. Mr. and Mrs. Grady Lee Halfacre of Prosperity an nounce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Judith Johnnette to Philip Olin Epps, son of Dr. and Mrs. William Monroe Epps of Clemson. Miss Halfacre is the grand daughter of Mrs. C. B. Half acre of Newberry and the late Mr. Halfacre, and of Mrs. Holly H. Hipp of Saluda and the late Mr. Hipp. The bride-elect received the B.A. degree in English from Note taken of Music Month Miss Lorraine Paris, right and Miss Juanita Hitt review the proclamation just signed by Mayor Clarence A. Shealy Jr., designating February as Ameri can Music Month in Newberry. Miss Paris is president of the Newberry Music Club and Miss Hitt is chairman of the month’s observance. Newberry College and is teach ing at Fairforest Junior High school in Fairforest. Mr. Epps is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. S. W. Epps of Latta and Mr. and Mis. B. C. Baker of Andrews. He will re ceive a B.S. degree in forestry from Clemson University in May. The wedding will be held on June 23 at 6 p.m“. at Central Methodist church. No formal invitations will be sent, but friends and relatives are cor dially invited to attend the cer emony. Sewing class be held here Girls between the ages of 14 and 17—listen to this. Mr. and Mrs. William Edward Senn, of Belfast Road, announce the engagement of their daughter, Patsy Ruth, to Engrum Lee Johnson, Jr., son of Mrs. Engrum Lee Johnson of Williamsburg Drive, Kingstree, and the late Mr. Johnson. Miss Senn completed requirements for a B.A. degree in Religion from Furman University in January and will receive her degree in June. Mr. Johnson was graduated in 1966 from Furman University with a B.A. degree in Religion. Miss Senn and Mr. Johnson are both students at the Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, Wake Forest, North Carolina. The wedding is planned for June 16 at 4 p.m. at Bush River Baptist church. Robert Marvin to give talk “Basic Home Grounds Land scaping” is the title of a lecture by one of South Carolina’s most outstanding architects, Robert Marvin of Walterboro. This will be the first in a series of six lectures on the problems facing a home owner after the bulldozers have leveled the ground. The course will be one of several sponsored by the Faculty Women’s Club of New berry College and offered to adult citizens who are busy dur ing the day and wish to do something constructive with their free evenings.
