Donald M. McSween, state parks director, said the cabins will be assigned in a public drawing to be held shortly after March 1. Reservations are limit ed to one week in order to give more families an opportunity to enjoy the low-cost facilities, he said. McSween said that in the past more than 1,000 families used the cabins at the state parks each year for their vacations. He pointed out the parks division’s plans include additional modern cabins at must of the parks which will provide facilities for a much larger number of persons in the future. Vacation cabins are located at Oconee, Pleasant Ridge & Table Rock in the mountains, Cheraw, Poinsett, Santee and Givhans Ferry in the central part of the state and Myrtle Beach, Edisto and Hunting Island State Parks, on the coast. Families desiring to reserve a cabin during the summer should apply before March to Parks Division; Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism; P. 0. Box 1358; Columbia, S. C. 29202. Applications should state the park and date preferences with as many alternate choices as possible. Application forms and folders describing facilities of the cabins are available upon request, McSween said. Gorham speaks in Prosperity Rev. Don Gorham, Southern Representative of the American Council of Christian Churches (not to be confused with the National Council of Churches), will present a lecture on Feb ruary 11 at Prosperity Elemen tary School at 7:00 p.m. The public is cordially invited. A welcome relief from the constant barrage of anti-war propaganda, Rev. Gorham be lieves in victory in Vietnam. He recently returned from a visit to the U. S. fighting fields in Southeast Asia and the Far East. During his lecture, he will present slides and an infor mative discussion of recent developments in the war area. Rev. Gorham has commented about the U. S. “no win” policy: “Our fighting men are not allowed to pursue the enemy be yond points set in Washington; our planes are not allowed to bomb ships nor docks supplying the enemy in North Vietnam, and our fleet is patrolling the China Sea, letting all supplies and ammunitions into N. Viet nam, often passing communist ships come close enough to talk with the crew.” Rev. Bouknight dies in Va. The Rev. Lewis E. Bouk night ,95, of Fisherville, Va., died suddenly Friday in Va. The Rev. Bouknight retired from the Lutheran ministry two years ago because of his health. He was born in Little Mountain, the son of the late Gus and Mamie C. Bouknight. He was graduated from New berry High school and Newber ry College and the Lutheran Seminary in Columbia. Most of his ministry was in Virginia. Services were conducted at the Grace Lutheran church, Way nesboro, Va. Sunday afternoon. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Mildred S. Bouknight; two sons, Stephen and Allen Bouk night of the home. Aunts and uncles of the local area are Mrs. David Cannon, of Little Mountain, Mrs. L. Frank Frick of Columbia and Mrs. C. B. Metts of Little Mountain. WILL ATTEND INSTITUTE More than 150 professionals in the field of recreation, parks and conservation will be at tending the 13th annual South eastern Park and Recreation Training Institute at the Hotel Sir Walter Raleigh in Raleigh, N. C. on February 20-23. Paul K. Fuller, director of recreation for the city of New berry and president of the S. C. Recreation and Park Society, will participate in the program conducted by N. C. State Uni versity’s Department of Recre ation Resources Administration of the School of Forest Re sources, cooperating with NSUs Division of Continuing Educa tion. Mrs. Suber, 68, rites Thursday Mrs. Ethel Berley Miller Suber, 68, wife of Willie J. Suber, died Wednesday morn ing at her home after a ling ering illness. Mrs. Suber was born in this county, the daughter of the late Boykin and Willie Etta Cromer Berley. She was a member of St. Matthew’s Lu theran church. Her first hus band, Lovrick P. Miller, died many years ago. Besides her husband she is survived by two sons, Lovrick P. Miller of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida and Berley L. Miller of Whitmire; two daughters, Mrs. H. B. Alewine of Rock Hill and Mrs. James C. Fulmer of Warner Robins, Ga.; two step-sons, W. Jacob Suber Jr. and Thomas O .Suber, both of Pomaria- five step-daughters, Mrs. Thomas Smith and Mrs. Mark Smith, both of Newberry, Mrs. A. P. Long, and Mi's. Har vey Berley, both of Pomaria, and Mrs. Dan Sanders of Col umbia; one brother, James H. Berley of Singley; two sisters, Mrs. Marvin Graham of Po maria and Mrs. Will Gilliam of Newberry. Funeral services were con ducted Thursday at her church by Rev. Elford B. Roof. Burial was in Rosemont cemetery. Forester is transferred State Forester John R. Tiller has announced the reassign ment of two S. C. Commission of Forestry foresters. William B. Lawrence, Jr. has been transferred from Kings- tree to Newberry. He will work under the supervision of Dis trict Forester Legare M. Duke carrying out Forestry Commiss ion activities in Abbeville, Ches ter, Edgefield, Fairfield, Green wood, Laurens, McCormick, Newberry, and Saluda Counties. Mr. Lawrence, a native of Greenville, has worked for the State Commission of Forestry for about nine years, being stationed at Spartanburg, New berry, and Kingstree.
