Auxiliary to help veterans in hospital The American Auxiliary held its regular meeting on Thurs day, December 7 at 4 p.m. at the home of Mrs. T. M. Fellers. Mrs. J. N. Nicosia, Mrs Ray Schumpert and Mrs. Huston Long were associate hostesses. The meeting was called to order by the president, Mrs. M.' F .Bowler, The ritualistic ser vice was then held followed by the members singing the Star Spangled Banner. The president announced that the Spring Rally would be held in Columbia on March 25, 26 at the Wade Hampton Hotel. The Americanism chairman, Mrs. F. Scott Elliott reported that a magnolia wreath was placed on Memorial Square on November 11 according to cus tom. She also gave the topic for the essay, which is “Our Herit age of Freedom. w December is Rehabilitation month. Mrs. 0. R. Summer, Sr., Rehabilitation chairman, gave a most interesting program. A new project has been added this year, the Bloodmobile. The Le gion and Auxiliary sponsored the visit on Monday, December 18. Last month, in community service, six members helped in the mailing of the tuberculosis seals. One member served as co-chairman of this volunteer work. The gift shop at the Veter ans Hospital in Columbia was then discussed. Several members plan to go down to help in the workshop. Some gifts were brought and a nice contribution of money will be sent. A motion was made that the Auxiliary send a contribution of $10.00 for the Christmas party at the Vet erans Hospital. Contributions will also be sent for the Insulin fund, Emergency shelf, Linwood Hohpital and Freedoms Founda tion at Valley Forge. The members sang Christmas carols, followed by “God Bless America” and the Lord’s Pray er. During the social hour the hostesses served a delicious sa lad plate with coffee.
