Now with a membership of 650,000 it is the largest of its kind in the world. She said the State Federation has help ed 47 performers toward a musical career. She commend ed the club for supporting the Parade of American Music each year. Mrs. Jones closed by singing a solo, “ Take Joy Home” (Carolyn Wells Bassett,) ac companied on the piano by Miss Georgia Montgomery of Fountain Inn. Mrs. Jones wore an orchid given her by the club and was presented a gift also in appre ciation for her visit. Mrs. Jones presented Nat ional Federation Awards of Merit to the following for ed, were Conway Jones, Jr., and daughter, Miss Elizabeth Jones of Fountain Inn and P. K. Harmon. Miss Lorraine Paris, presid ent, presided. The Thanksgiv ing Hymn was sung by the group led by the chairman, Mrs. A1 Busby. Miss Hitt and Mrs. W. Roy Anderson gave reports on the State Board meeting in Columbia in Octo ber. Following the meeting a de lightful social hour was en joyed. Members and guests were invited into the dining room where assorted sandwiches and cakes and mints were served. The color scheme of green and gold was carried out. The table, covered with a beautiful Belgian linen and their participation in American was ccntercd wjth Music Week last May: The Newberry Music Club, to Miss Hitt for the Newberry High School Music Department, Franklin Armfield for The Sun, Dave Sokovitz for the Observer, Mrs. Roland Fel- ker for the window display at The Fashion. Other guests of the club an arrangement of gold chry santhemums and fruit, flank ed by gold tapers in silver holders. Mrs. Harmon poured tea. Mrs. Lake and Mrs. Ab rams assisted Miss Hitt in serving. Surviving in addition to his parents are his paternal grand parents, Mr. and Mrs. Tal- madge Rhodes of Whitmire; his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Darby of New berry, and a number of uncles and aunts. Graveside services were held Wednesday from Whitmire cemetery. ANTI-UTTER ORDINANCE STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA, COUNTY OF NEWBERRY. An Ordinance Prohibiting Littering of Private and Public Property, Highways, Streets, Parks, Etc. BE IT ORDAINED, By the Mayor and Council- men of Newberry, in Council duly assembled; Section 1—It shall be unlawful for any person to dump, throw upon, deposit or leave trash, refuse, garbage, cans, bottles, wrecked cars, or any other litter on any property belonging to another without permission from the owner thereof or on or along or upon any public street, parking lot, sidewalk, park, or other public property within the City of Newberry. Section 2—Any violation of this Section shall be punishable by a fine of not more than One Hundred ($100.00) Dollars or imprisonment of not more than Thirty (30) days; and in addition, any person violating this Section may be required toremove any such trash, refuse, garbage, or other deliterious matter dumped or left on the streets or any other property.
