Paul ,son of Mrs. Elaine Mayo Paul of 2025 Glenn Street was gradu ated from eight weeks of re cruit training at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot here. He will undergo from two to four weeks of individual combat training and then, af ter leave at home, will report to his first Marine Corps as signment. Mrs. Bowers died Friday Mrs. Julia Shealy Bowers, 76, died late Friday night at the Newberry County Memorial Hospital after a short illness. Mrs. Bowers was born and reared at Little Mountain in Newberry County and was the daughter of the late Levi Sid ney and Betty Cook Shealy. She had made her home in Little Mountain and was a member of Holy Trinity Lu theran Church and a member of the Ladies Sunday school class. Mrs. Bowers is survived by her husband, Brabham E. Bow ers, Little Mountain; three sons, Carl S. Bowers, Little Mountain, Hubert B. Bowers, Leesville, and Robert L. Bow ers, Prosperity; four daugh ters; Mrs. Mary Lizzie Boland, Mrs. Kathryn Wicker, Mrs. Mil- ured Hentz, all of Little Moun tain, Mrs. Betty Haltiwanger, Newberry; two sisters, Mrs. Henry Hentz, Newberry Mrs. Heyward Summers, Little Mountain; 22 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Sunday 2:30 p. m. from Holy Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. Garth L. Hill and Dr. Henry A. McCollough conduct ing the service. Burial was in the church cemetery. -ELECT- Clarence A.
