Literally hundreds of volun
teers fur the Tuberculosis and
Ibalth Association are in the
midst of preparations for the
Christmas Seal Compai^n, ac
cording to the president, Rich
ard W. Stowe of Greenwood.
The annual fund raising drive
will open officially on Novem
ber 14. D K students from
Greenwood Hiy r h and typing
students from Hickory Tavern,
Ford, and Laurens Hip r h have
helped to type and stuff the
envelopes.
Stuffing parties have been
held in Saluda, Newberry, Ab
beville Greenwood, and Kdye-
field with 12'd women working
dST hours. Those who have ar
ranged the stuffing parties in-

Scott’s creek
be surveyed
The Corps of Knp r ineers from
Charleston beyan Monday con
ducting a survey of the Scotts
Creek area in Newberry. The
survey will continue over a two
week period.
This survey was requested by
thecity government, according
to City Manager, K. W. Riebe,
for the purpose of trying to
improve the flooding condition
of the creek. Most of the sur
vey will be in city and state
rights of way; however, some
survey stakes, may be statioimd
on private property.
The city requests that t h e
stakes not be removed until
clearance is given by the city
office. Kvery effort wall be
made not to damage property,
according to Mr. Riebe, who
suggests that if further infor
mation is desired or damage
noted, residents should call the
city office, h7*5-4193.

will be the featured attraction
during halftime of the Newber
ry High-Saluda High football
game.
A patriotic theme will be
carried out by the combined
bands of the 7th and 8th grades
and the Newberry High School
marching band. Miss Lorraine
Paris is director of the bands.
