C., Thursday*, June 29, 1967 Yearbook gets high rating THE NEWBERRIAN, the student yearbook of Newberry College has earned the score of A for 1967 in the annual crit ical service sponsored by National School Yearbook Association. Publications earn ing the grade of EXCELLENT (A) receive a golct-bordered certificate appropriate for framing. The editor of the 1967 NEW BERRIAN was John Harold Wolff of Columbia. The theme of the 1967 NEW BERRIAN was based on a novel by Thomas Wolfe, YOU CAN'T GO HOME AGAIN. The :over was an original design by the editor. Mrs. Lawson died at Aiken Mrs. Annie Spehl Lawson, 73 widow of David L. Lawson, died Thursday at an Aiken nur sing home after a brief illness. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. J. 0. Pearson of Aiken; two sons, Alvin Lawson, of Montebello, Ala., and David L. Lawson of Columbia; a sister, Mrs. Lottie Jones of Newberry and a brother, Elmore Spehl of Newberry. WHITMIRE DERAILMENT—Several of the 16 freight cars of the Seaboard Airline Railroad are shown above. The accident occurred at Winder's Cut about one mile north of Whitmire early last Friday morning. Rails and cross ties were shattered when the cars left the track. Spokesmen for the line said expansion of the rails due to heat was the probable cause of the mishap. The engine was pulling 100 cars.A number of the cars were broken open in the wreck and contents of traffic signals, lawn edgers and other merchandise was spread along the tracks for approximately one mile. CAPTAIN SEASTRUNK IS IN VIET NAM WITH U. S. COMBAT AIR FORCES, Vietnam — Chaplain (Captain) Charles E. Seastrunk Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Chas. E. Seastrunk Sr., of Laurens is on duty in Vietnam. Chaplain Seastrunk provides essential chaplain and religious service for U. S. Air Force per sonnel. He is a member of the Pacific Air Forces, the nation’s combatready air arm guarding the 10,000 piile Bamboo cur tain. Before his arrival in South east Asia, he was assigned to the 4th Combat Support Group at Seymour Johnson AFB, NC. The chaplain served during the Korean war. A graduate of Prosperity High school, he attended Clem- son University. Chaplain Seas trunk received his B.S. degree from Newberry College and his B.D. degree in 1958 from the Lutheran Seminary, Columbia. His wife, Sarah, is the daugh ter of Rev. Neil E.
