Counts A Newberry Negro man was sentenced to 20 years imprison ment here Monday in General Sessions Court on a guilty plea to a charge of manslaugh ter in the fatal shooting of his wife. Eighth Circuit Judge Francis Nicholson handed down the sen tence to J. B. Griffin of Glenn Stveet Extension. Griffin’s wife,” Mrs. Rebecca R. Griffin, was fatally shot at home near Silverstreet last September. Robert Luther Wilson, 24, Negro, entered a guilty plea to three counts of involuntary manslaughter and reckless homicide in the traffic accident deaths of his father and two women March 27. Wilson was sentenced to one year on each count with the sentences to run concurrently. He was the driver of a car in volved in a two-car accident which killed his father, Clar ence Wilson, and Mrs. Margaret Lois Smith, 37. The grand jury returned a no bill in the case of Cyril Wayne Sheppard, 20, of Silverstreet, who was charged with involun tary manslaughter and reckless homicide in the traffic deaths Feb. 12 of Rev. Roy Reeves, 62, and his wife, Ira Reeves, 61, of Ninety Six. Sheppard was the driver of a car which was in collision with the Reeves car near Chappells. Other defendants sentenced on guilty pleas to charges Mon day included: Driving while under the in fluence of intoxicants—Fred Joseph Alexander Jr., and Frank Richard Ruff, both sen tenced to one year or $1,000, suspended on service of three months or $250, and one year prpbation. Non-support—Fred J. Kirby Jr., one year or $1,500, sus pended on payment of $20 weekly and five years pro bation; Junior R. Moore, one year or $1,500, suspended, $15 weekly, five years probation; and Eugene Thomas Hopper Jr., one year or $1,500, sus pended, $10 weekly, five years probation. Violation of the liquor law— Willie Edwards, two years or $3,000, suspended to one year or $1,500, two years probation; Rainey Young, six months or $600, suspended to $150, one year probation; John Willie Robinson, one year or $1,000; Walter Morgan, six months or $600, suspended to two months or $200, one year probation; and Norvice Gresham, six months or $600, suspended to three months or $300, one year probation. Assault and battery of a high aggravated nature—Willie Mac Tucker, six months; Leroy Mathis, six months, suspended, two years probation; and Barto Cooper, one year. Peeping Tom—Harold Jack- son, sentenced to the John G. Richards State industrial School for Boys until released by school authorities. Housebreaking and Larceny— Joseph Hill Jr., six months, sus pended, one year probation. Assault and battery—J. W. Singleton, six months, sus pended, one year probation. Thirteen defendants entered guilty pleas to charges Tues day and were sentenced by Presiding Judge Francis Nich olson. Glenn Kenneth Bruce was sentenced to 60 days or $200 on charges of hunting deer at night. Joe Louis Fleming pleaded nolo contrendre (no contest) to two counts of a high and ag gravated nature in connection with a scuffle with a Pomaria police officer. He was sent enced to two years, suspended to 10 months and three years probation. Other defendants entering guilty pleas were. Murray Ruff, violation of liquor law, one year or $1,500, suspended to four months or $400; two years probation. James Walter Johnson, vio lation of liquor law; one year or $1560. suspended to four months or $400; two years pro bation. Calvin Mattison, four counts of forgery, two years. John Dominick, non-support; one year of $1500; suspended to $15 weekly and five years probation. John Willie Robinson, viola tion of liquor law, three years or $3000, suspended to 1 year or $750; three years probation. Maxie Parrott, violation of liquor law, two years or $3000; suspended to 6 months or $400; one year probation. Leroy Mathis, assault and battery of high and aggra vated nature, six months, sus pended, one year probation. James Epps, assault and bat tery of a high and aggravated nature; one year, suspended to four months or $250, 3 years probation. Wallace Smith, housebreak ing and larceny, 18 months; suspended to six months, 3 years probation. Roosevelt Cannon, illtreat- ment of a child, 30 days sus pended, one year probation. Willie Garmany, malicious in jury to personal property; one year, suspended to 4 months or $400; three years probation. Henry Calvin Stone, driving under the influence of intoxi cating liquors, three years or $2,000, suspended to six months or $350; two years probation. VISIT BEACH Mr. and Mrs. H. B.
