RETURNS FROM
CHICAGO TRIP
Can you become an expert
by listening to experts? Sev-
enteen-year-old Cheryl Folk of
Newberry thinks so, and she
has been in expert company re
cently as a delegate to the
National Youthpower Congress
in Chicago.
Cheryl attended the Congress
as part of the South Carolina
delegation and during the four
day session heard top men in
three areas of the food industry
—careers, economics and nutri
tion—talk about their special
ized fields.
Besides listening to exoert
presentations, Cheryl also
took part in one of the food
industry tours, gaining addi
tional knowledge in what hap
pens as food moves “from farm
to table.”
Now' Cheryl is hoping to
communicate her n 'w know
ledge to follow teens and in
terested adult groups. She is
available to address meetings
and relate her experience by
sending a written request ‘o
her home or phoning 276-2242.
Communicating h^r “expert”
knowledge on food can help
Cheryl earn a second trio to
Chicago when >the Youthpower
Congress is held again in 1968.
The follow-up campaign made
by Cheryl and nearly 200 other
teens from 25 states who at
tended the Congress will be
judged for scope and original
ity. earning four delegates a
return trip.
On April 1, during the Con
gress, Cheryl was chosen one
of the top five teen-age eirls
in the United States. They
were judged in leadershin ant 1
speaking ability, personality
personal appearance and achi
evements.
