CHRISTIAN SCIENCE
EASTER PROGRAM
There will be a Christian
Science Easter program
broadcast over Radio Station
WKDK each Wednesday dur
ing March.
Featured in the Easter pro
gram will be penetrating dia
logue between Robert Peel,
author of two major books on
Christian Science, and a pro
fessional writer who is a grad
uate of the Harvard Divinity
school.
Contemporary answers are
given to some of today’s most
often-asked questions about
the meaning of Easter, prayer,
and spiritual healing.
The first program, March
8 at 6:45 p.m., will be “Prayer
and the Spiritual Healing
movement, Part I.” This pro
gram explores the nature of
prayer and “miracles” and
their meaning for a space-age
world.

College Band
begins tour
The Newbery College Concert
Band will present seven con
certs during a three-day tour
in South Carolina and Georgia
next week.
The tour is scheduled March
1-3, and will include two pub
lic concerts, four appearances
at high schools, and a private
concert for the Edisto Con
ference Bands.
Soloists will be Benny Fer
guson, Mount Pleasant, fresh
man music education major,
and John Wagner, assistant
professor of music and teacher
of woodwind instruments. Fer
guson plays the trumpet, and
Prof. Wagner is a clarinetist.
Charles P. Pruitt, assistant
professor of music, is con
ductor of the band.
The tour itinerary is as fol
lows: March 1—Allendale High
School, Allendale, 2 p.m., Wal-
terboro High School, Waiter-
boro, public concert, 8 p.m.;
March 2—Groves High School,
Savannah, Gr., 10:30 a. m.,
Beaufort High School, Beau

Mothers club
plans egg hunt
The Pre-School Mother’s
Club, Group I, met Friday,
February 17 at the G. L. Davis
home. Co-hostesses were Mrs.
Gerald Hester, Mrs. Terrell
Sease, and Mrs. George Senn.
The meeting was called to or
der by the president, Mrs. Mike
Chappell who turned the meet
ing over to the program chair
man, Mrs. William Monroe.
Miss Margaret Paysinger was
introduced as the speaker and
she gave a presentation on
children’s literature.
A discussion period followed
and many types of children’s
literature were examined. The
hostesses served refreshments
of coffee, coke and sausage
twirls, nuts and cookies.
The business portion of the
meeting concerned plans for
the Easter egg hunt to be
sponsored this year by Group
I and which is tentatively set
for March 25 at Margaret
Hunter park, at 10:00 a. m.
The roll was called by the sec
retary, Mrs. Gurnie Stuck,
and 18 members were present.
The minutes of the past meet
ing were read and approved.
Members were thanked for
their work in addressing Eas
ter Seal envelopes, and for
successfully selling a number
of aluminum knives as a spec
ial project.
The next meeting will be
a joint meeting to be held on
March 17 at the home of Mrs.
Billy O’Dell.
