Pack your gifts in unu sual containers — such as flow er pots, small basket, decorated oatmeal boxes, coffee cans or paper plates with bright seals. MERRY CHRISTMAS! After Columbus The first observance of Christmas in this country was shortly after Columbus dis covered America. The Santa Maria was beached on Christ mas and his men were unable to free her. The ship was stripped of as much gear as possible. Since the Nina was unable to accomodate all of the Santa Maria crew some of them were left behind in a fort. That, in honor of the season, was called Le Navidad, the Na tivity. NOT A MUST Prepare a special gift for a "stranger!” With so many peo ple to remember, we have a list of relatives and friends we "must” give presents to. This year let’s select an "extra” gift and contribute it to an organi zation which takes on the task of helping less fortunate have something of Christmas. LIGHT THE TREE The decorating can take away or add to the appearance of the most beautifully shaped tree. Instead of guesswork on the number of lights to use — go by this formula. Height of tree (in feet) x width of tree at base (in feet) x 3. If your tree is 6 feet high and 4>4 feet wide at the base, the formula goes like this; 6 x 4y 2 x 3 — equal 81 lights for a good lighting effect. HANDLE WITH CARE ark package ;Fragile” or .. f , ff .
