FARM
NOTES
ically the same for all State-
Graded Feeder Cattle sales
thruout the state. Saluda Sale
voted to add the rule that all
heifers must be guaranteed op
en. All other sales have had
this as one of their rules for
some time. Saluda will have a
night sale where most of the
others are having day sales.
The one thing that seems to
keep some cattle out of the sale
is that all heifers must be calf-
hood vaccinated against Bangs.
This should be done when the
cattle are between the ages of
four to eight months of age.
This, however, is a good man
agement practice regardless of
whether the heifers are to be
sold or used as replacements
back in the herd.
Any dehorning to be done
should be done so that the herd
will be completely healed by"
the time of the Sale. Steer cat
tle must have been properly
castrated and healed.
