Climbing cat
can't complain
Cats, like people, are never too
old to learn. This was shown a
few days ago when the ten-year
old cat “Boots” at the A. H.
Counts home on Evans street,
started something new—the art
of climbing trees.
He made the first ascent the
past week. When located high up
in a pine tree in the yard he was
pleading for help. After some en
couragement he came down head
first. Several days later he was
pleading again for help from a
second pine tree some 40 feet up.
He came down this time backwards
after seeing help was waiting in
case he fell.
Since then he was found placid
ly perched in the forks of a
huge oak tree, indicating by his
pleasant expression that he was
able to take care of himself.
The main fact is the cat re
ceived a broken back when struck
by a car several years ago and
had to undergo surgery.
